How To Make An Outdoor Coffee Table – I wanted to share today about the coffee table we made for our back porch.

I didn’t write the rules for it (honestly, I just put things together without knowing if it would work) so this isn’t a tutorial. But, you can easily make your own when you see how it’s put together.

We need a new coffee table, but the reason I built this table is because of this guy.

I made a tall corner table so that I could store items that were out of Archer’s reach, easily pull out when he wasn’t using them, and when needed. I chose the side-opening X series because I didn’t want spiders or other bad guys making a home in a closed box.

I made the table according to the size of my kush so it would fit well. For the main thing I use 2 × 2. The rectangular pieces are cut to the length I want and then eight sections (four on the top, four on the bottom) are attached to the corner. I used a pocket hole jig to join the side panels.

The X pieces are made up of one long 2 × 2 and two short 2 × 2. I don’t use any special tricks to measure the angles, I just place the 2×2 on the outside of the head and mark the angles on the inside. and a pencil. Since they are purely decorative and do not provide any support, they are simply attached and hung in one place. Note: I filled my nail holes with wood filler and sanded them down before applying the weather treatment. The filling didn’t heal and now the filling sticks out like a sore thumb. If I could do it over again, I would have left the nail holes unfilled.

At the top I use a 1×6 spacer to fit the table top, attaching two 1×2s with glue and screws. Later, its top and base are connected by three rings.

I use two L brackets on the other side when the top is closed. I used them with a 1×2 held together at the top so it would stay in place when closed.

To give it a crazy look, I covered it with a wool and vinegar mixture that I found here. I’ve left it alone for a few weeks without any plugs but I noticed that the wood was darkening in the sun (I noticed that when I removed the two lights that were sitting on it. .) I then sanded it to highlight the color and added Thompson’s Water Apply a clear coat of coat. So far I haven’t noticed any color change. The image below is best in color.

We use regular crates from big box stores that measure 9 1/2″ x 18″ x 12 1/2. First, put them back into groups of four. Crates will fit on a 19″ x 36″ plywood base. You can cut it yourself or have a hardware store cut it for you. We use 3/4″-thick plywood.
