Depending on how much time you want to spend or how much money you want to save, some of these tools can be removed or replaced in one way or another. So don't think you need anything on this list to make a resin board. I say they are easy.

I always start my project by creating a template that helps me visualize my finished board. Your template doesn't have to be anything fancy. I usually use old 1×1 inch scraps that I have lying around. For best results, make the template so that the inside of the template is the same size as the finished board.

So I like to match one curve to another object that curves around the same area. In this way, it naturally imitates a real river. If you're stuck on your design, I've been inspired in the past by looking at aerial photos of real rivers. This can be especially useful when adding islands or other objects to the river to simulate a bay.

When the design is complete, mark your shape on the plates with chalk or pencil. I marked my lines 2 inches long and wide. That way I have an inch of room for error on both sides. I need my client's measurements to be correct. If you or your client can manage a little smaller, you have the option of making your characters a little closer to their final size.

I have a very good solo business store. So I was lucky enough to get some tools that your average DIYer can't justify. One such tool is the Festool Track Saw. While this makes some things like cutting these boards to size much easier, it is not necessary. I think some kind of circular saw is a must. You can do this with just a hacksaw or even a handsaw, but it will be much more difficult.

Over the past year I have changed my stamping method. I've been working with the folks at Liquid Epoxy to find a way to keep the material from sealing my edges using an edge sealer.
