Attach the short leg to the long leg with 2″ brad nails and wood glue. The bottom of the short leg should be flat on top of the long runner.
Cut the top project to size and drill 3/4″ pocket holes on both sides of one and three edges on the other. Connect them with 1 1/4″ pocket hole screws and wood glue.

With the top tab facing forward, turn the bottom tab so that the small legs sit on top of the table top. Attach the table top to the short legs with 1 1/4″ pocket hole screws and wood glue.
Cut the supporting material to size and drill 1 1/2″ pocket hole screws in both sides. On the top of the table, attach the legs with 2 1/2″ hole screws and wood glue, and fasten to the table with 2″ screws.
Measure and cut the lines to size and drive 1 1/2″ pocket hole screws into each end. Attach them to the table top with 1 1/4″ hole screws and attach to the table two leg with 2 1/2″ pocket hole screws and wood glue. Add a few 2″ brad nails and a piece of wood on the corners to join the 45° corner together.

When the table is built, fill all the pockets and nail holes with wood filler and sand with 80-grit sandpaper, followed by 120-grit and then 220-grit. Once the sanding was done I used Minwax Pre-Stain Wood Conditioner.
To finish, I mixed 2 parts Minwax Wood Finish in Golden Oak with 1 part Steam Grey.
Their new line is easy to use! Just wipe the stain with a cloth. It just needs a coat and dries in a few hours!

The first step in making your own coffee table is to cut the wood to size. The best thing about this design is how easy it is to cut! Follow the plans and cut the paper cut to size.
I use my workbench and a workbench to cut wood. When the slices are cut to size, I want them all to be the same thickness. So, I ran all the wood through my planer. This also has a smoother finish and requires less sanding later.

I used a pocket hole joint to join the pieces together where the holes were hidden. This is my favorite writing method because it is easy to use. It's a great way for beginners to make furniture too!
I used a Milescraft PocketJig200 to do this. I recommend this jig for any pocket you do! It is a good system and easy to use.
Milescraft thought of every step of the pocket hole when they created this jig. An example of this is the magnet on the face of the jig that attaches to the faceplate. It allows the user to quickly release, re-release the jig, hook and draw again. In a project like this where many pocket holes are drilled at once, this will be very helpful in reducing work time and streamlining the process.

I find it easier to mark each hole for each board first, then draw them all at once.

Now that all the pieces are cut and the pocket holes drilled, you can assemble all the pieces together. Follow the plan to get the right measurements.

To get a tight seam on the table top, I recommend joining the edges of all the boards. You can read about different ways to straighten longboards here.
Remember to use wood glue and string. Allow the glue to dry completely before releasing the part.
Once the table is hinged, fasten the pieces together using Milescraft 2″ PocketScrews. This self-tapping screw secures the pocket joint. The T20 Star Head does a great job preventing removal. out and make quick work of adding nails.

Sand the coffee table before applying the stain and finish. Start with 80 grit sandpaper on the orbital sander and sand all over. This is especially important if you haven't prepared the wood before assembling it.
When you are done, switch to 120 grit sandpaper and sand the entire piece again. Now you are ready to apply the stain.
The stain I use is called Special Walnut and I bought it at Home Depot. Apply the soil evenly on top of the brush and let it dry completely according to the dry time on the back of the can. A brush is the best way to apply this stain, because it creates a smooth texture.

When some of the soil is completely dry, you can use the last one. I used my favorite matte sealer (the same one I use on my dining table and bathroom vanity).
