How To Make Poang Chair Cover – Today we’re sharing some tips for another great piece from IKEA, and that’s the Poang chair. As always, the chair is an example of practical and stylish seating. The laminated curved beet frame provides comfortable flexibility and the cover is easy to keep clean as it is removable and machine washable. How to beat it? First, replace the covers if they are damaged or don’t fit your interior. This is where you need sewing skills. You will need three pieces of fabric – 71″x27″, 36″x23″ and 12″x23″, of course to fit your design. First, sew the three sides together, making sure right sides together. They are not the same width, so take the middle piece. Then both ends up sewing in a straight line, increasing the fabric by 1/2 inch. Next, with the fabric right sides together, fold the long piece (36″ long side) to a 10″ edge. Then fold the short piece (long side 12″) into a 3″ edge. Starting in the middle of one side, pin the two sides together. The easiest way is to press and pin the fabric together. When you reach the end, keep the line straight, leaving 2 inches from the top. Once both sides are pinned, it’s time to sew the last two stitches! Start about an inch from the end and finish about an inch to the end of the fabric. When finished, the corners can be rounded to make them look seamless. Turn the baby right side out and you’re ready to grab the seat cushion! The opening of the envelope will be under the seat cushion and will not be visible. When the cushion is attached to the seat, fold the fabric over the back of the seat and glue the headboard.

I started hanging the top end of the chair, right side. I made sure it was lined evenly and the stripes were straight.

Shawn’s mother-in-law gave it to us when we moved in together last year. Actually yes, but it’s not pretty. I see his potential. I don’t care about the model, I just restore with the original. I’m also all about efficiency, so this is easy for me. You can do it yourself! It’s just one step away from making a pillow. I have included approximate measurements for each piece, but they may not match your chair. Take them as a guide. Here’s how I do it:
1. Measure and cut your parts. I used one long piece for the front and two smaller pieces for the back and seat of the chair. Front: 53″ x 32″ Back: 27″ x 26″ Bottom: 21″ x 26″
2. Cut one width of the top panel (32″ side) that will end at the bottom of the seat. Do the same for one width of the back panel. Cut two widths of the bottom panel.

3. Next, sew the raw back panel (again wide) to the top of the front panel (raw side of course). Since the front panel is wider, leave an equal amount of front panel on both sides.
4. Since this is a cushion, I allow more fabric on the top panel, and the stitching matches the edge of the seat.

Pin the two plates to the inside of the pillow to know where to sew. Then, follow your pins and sew each side together (still, of course). It should look like a pillowcase with the right side inside. In the same way, sew the edges of the bottom panel under the back panel. The reason I used two panels for the back of the chair was to leave room for the pillow flex.
With Workplace, your recovery is almost complete! You’ll notice that I have a bit of space at the bottom of the front panel:
