Not everything has to match and it can make you stand out.” It's been a while here on the blog about the garden house, but we've been making a few changes recently and I wanted to show you one of my favorites: the DIY glider from Daphne's Nursery. Turns out the glider is a fully functional DIY… It's actually pretty simple and today I'm going to tell you exactly how we built the Daphne shaker.
Ever since I found out I was pregnant with Daphne, I've been on the hunt for the perfect float or swing. But I couldn't find one that I liked
It was a reasonable price. In fact, when I looked at Restoration Hardware it was $2000 and I couldn't justify it. I lamented this fact to a friend when he suggested, “Why don't you do it yourself?” He pointed me in the direction of the glider bases and it blew my mind.

These stations are technically designed to replace existing inverters, but they also work well in a new DIY process. I picked up this chair from IKEA that looks remarkably like the $2,000 pair I was looking at at Restoration Hardware. Then I ordered the station and then on Saturday morning, while Daphne slept in the other room, Garrett and I set up this stream in less than an hour. Even better, the total cost of this DIY job was part of the recovery hardware slider. I am happy with the final product!
Seat- I chose a seat with a slip cover because babies are messy, but an empty chair will work too. Just make sure you choose a seat with hidden support so you can't see the base of the jump when you're done. budget
3/4″ lumber, cut to size for the seat back (Farlowville cut ours 32″ x 36″)
Sewing Chair Facelift Easy Diy
1″ screws to attach to the wood base (we used 4 screws, but you may need more depending on the base you choose)
Take your feet off the chair. If you're putting together a new IKEA chair, don't just add legs.
Attach the wood to the base of the chair with 1 3/4″ screws (or more). Make sure the screws go into the wood frame of the chair. We used about 10 screws.

Attach the bottom of the wooden ladder with 1″ screws. Installing the stand is the hardest part of the whole DIY process. We put the base in the center of the chairs first, but it goes to the back of the chair. You're moving. Adjust the base until you're happy with how the chair swings.
And that's it! Very simple, right?! I'm sure this DIY has been done before, but I wanted to share it today in case you're looking for a good jumper without the crazy price tag. And while we're on the subject of price, let's talk about how much the glider costs.
That's not bad these days. Of course, this number can be reduced by finding shoes in IKEA's bargain section. Or get a vintage chair. This would be really nice for a vintage DIY chair!
