I had no riddles. So I went and bought one and it made my life so much easier because I cut out the circle in a matter of minutes.

Finally I filled in the gaps and nail holes with wood glue as I wanted to keep the rustic finish.

I sanded the surface working with a 36 to 200 grit sanding disc and set it on heavy auto polish.

I cut four to the desired 3″ height, sanded the edges, and attached the Lazy Susan hardware with 1.5″ wood screws. I also applied wood glue between the two surfaces.

This year, Anna White and I focused a little more on hostess-style or adult gifts for our handmade holiday series. Since we’ve done a lot of building projects for kids in the past, we decided to add a few more gift ideas for adults.

I love how the modern shape full of colors adds life and texture to the dining table. It works well if you place this lazy susan on a flat surface.

You can see in the photo above that there is a lot of space between the lazy Susanne’s table and the floor. The Lazy Susan has nearly 3/4 inch of clearance between the table top and bottom edge, allowing it to rotate freely.

Following Anna’s plan, I attached the bottom support to the top board using wood glue and 1/4″ countersunk screws. Then I cut out the sequins and attached them. I decided on a 1/2″ exposure at the top. .

The only essential hardware required for this project is the Lazy Susan mechanism. I used a 12-inch Amazon Lazy Susan turntable. Given the size of this modern octagonal shape, I opted for a larger 12-inch turntable. A standard 6-inch turntable would do just fine, but I thought a wider base would provide better stability.

To complete these modern trays, I filled the joints and voids with clear CA glue, then sprayed them with quick-drying accelerator. Then I sanded everything smooth, stained it with early American Varathane, and applied two coats of clear satin polyurethane. Also, attach a sticky felt pad to the turntable hardware to avoid scratching the table.
