How To Fold A Turkey Napkin – With Thanksgiving fast approaching, it’s time to kick the cooking and decorating prep into high gear. A few weeks ago I shared a super easy centerpiece idea, and today I want to show you a fun turkey napkin project! This is a really fun way to display napkins on your Thanksgiving table and an easy project to keep little hands busy while you work and outside the kitchen. With just some colored paper, scissors and craft glue, you can turn your cloth napkins into cute and festive turkeys for all your guests! Let me show you how!
The wings of these turkey napkins are made from simple napkin folds, while the bodies are made from different shapes of paper. They come together to make an adorable turkey friend that is sure to make your Thanksgiving guests smile!
How To Fold A Turkey Napkin
You can choose to keep your turkeys simple or give them different head coverings to transform them into adorable little Indians and Pilgrims. Different colors, sizes and shapes make these little guys endlessly adaptable!
Turkey Napkin Holder Craft
One of the great things about this project is that you don’t need a fancy cutting machine to make it work! I’ve taken some of my craft punches to make things a little faster and more durable, but anything can be done with a simple pair of scissors! Here’s what else you’ll need:
Note: You don’t need these exact punches to complete this project as shown. The trick is to look at the punches you have and find creative ways to use them or adapt them to your needs!
First, let’s make the turkey’s body. You need: A brown body Two black eyes A yellow beak A red nose.
Simple Ways To Fold A Napkin
To make the turkey bodies, frost a bowling pin-style mold on heavy paper. Cut it out and use it as a template to make as many brown turkey bodies as you need!
Use a punch to create yellow squares to make the beak. Then cut the squares in half to make triangles.

For the eyes, a standard hole punch works perfectly. Finally, you can easily untie a hair tie, but I found that an upside-down perforated sheet was the best shape! Get creative again with the tools you have and free what you don’t!
Turkey Napkin Folding
You can leave your turkeys plain or give them different accessories. Here are the elements you’ll need to make a Native American headdress and pilgrim hat.
For Native American headdresses, a tab punch works perfectly for a headband. You can also cut thin rectangles by hand.
As with the Native American headdress, attach the hat pieces to the turkey heads with more glue. Make sure to color the little black squares on top of the white squares with a marker to create the illusion of a buckle!
Pams Party & Practical Tips: Turkey Napkin Rings
As with all turkeys, you’ll need to add some simple paper stands to prop them up. Cut the strong cardboard into 1.5 x 5 inch strips, then fold 1/2 inch on one side.
Attach the turkeys to the folding tab with more glue. Once glued together, the turkey will stand on its own!
Turkeys really come to life when you add cloth napkins for wings! Folding napkins is quick and easy, although using an iron helps to create some more definition in the folds!
Diy Party Mom: Turkey Napkin Place Card Printable
Start with your cloth napkin fully unfolded, with the long side (if it has one). Then fold (and iron) the handkerchief back and forth like an accordion. You want your plots to be about two inches deep and you want to make at least four slabs in each direction.
You can even use fun markers to write all of your guests’ names on the bellies of the turkeys so they double as place cards!
This is a fun and easy Thanksgiving craft project the whole family can do together, or you can let the kids get creative while they work on the gravy and mashed potatoes! Thanks to a few basic punches, these come together in an instant.
