I cut the outer and inner pieces of the wing, two pieces for the back, two pieces for the arms, two pieces for the front of the arms, two pieces for the lower outer section. . I started by overlapping the two back pieces and pinning them (right sides together) to the back piece of the chair.

It is very important that the back of the chair is smooth and firm. It will be more visible in ready made clothes.

Following the lines and seams of the original seat, I nailed the outer wing pieces to the back and the inner wing pieces, which I nailed to the front of the seat piece.

You can see how many pins I used in the process. I wanted to make sure they followed the lines of the chair and fit.

Sometimes things can look messy, but if you tighten them with a second stitch, they can come out.

I could tell I didn't have enough bleach to finish my project, so I used non-bleached disposables for the area that would be hidden under the pillow.

Notice in the photo below that all of my upholstery seams are with the main parts of the seat.

After the main part of the cover was done, I added a roll and piping to the bottom edge to finish it off.

To create the pattern, I traced the cushion onto the teardrop fabric, leaving half an inch on all sides for seam allowances.

For the bottom of the pillow, I cut two overlapping pieces to fit the pillow inside.

I also cut a long strip down the center of the pillow to connect the top and bottom with piping in the middle.

If you want to try this, I encourage you to! As long as you take it further and check for regular fit, you can totally do it.

We dropped it on a chair (below right) and confirmed that it almost touched the back floor, touched the seat of the chair, and almost hit the front floor. I cut the width I needed and cut the length.
