How To Make A Metal Chair – Hello! Today I am here to share with you a spray paint and chalk paint folding chair makeover. This is a project I just finished for the Under $50 Thrifty Challenge I'm participating in with a bunch of the most talented DIY bloggers! Events like these are great motivation to complete projects on your to-do list. Extra seating can be difficult, especially if you have a small home. I'm always looking for seating options that don't take up too much space! Yeah… I'm not going to dwell on my lack of dining table and chairs right now. How To Make A Metal Chair
Mind you, this may not be the best before and after makeup look I've ever shared. We've had some crazy weather and my first project got bogged down in a rain storm…power outages, constant internet disconnection…and I had to start a second project when I forgot the letter. while typing by hand. should have done (I'm famous for it!)
Folding Chair Makeover
In an unknown way…more of a “I swear I'm going to start drinking” way. But I improvised. Surprise! Wow And I'm still sane. Basically.
I kept my eyes open for some folding chairs to help with our seating situation and gave them a shot for just a few bucks. I needed metal objects so I could paint them. I didn't want to deal with a fabric seat, torn plastic or upholstery project. These were perfect! If you don't have much luck finding such chairs, you may find that you can make them yourself. This is especially possible using, for example, a producer tube. Such an item will greatly facilitate construction work, allowing you to connect the legs of the chairs with structural pipe fittings. Making and decorating a chair would be the ultimate DIY project!
– I will tell you about the lack of crafty DIY character. I hate painting chairs. Mainly small details of the chair like partitions… I recommend using a sprayer or spray paint. I don't like to carry my sprayer around for small projects. So it's spray paint! My favorite is Rust-Oleum 2X Ultra Cover paint and primer in one.
Vintage Mid Century Modern Green & White Metal Outdoor Cantilever Springer Chairs
After slowly and evenly applying several coats of spray paint (and I let dry). I decided to write some text on the back of the seats. The whole… was going great until I forgot part of the letter.
My fix for this boo-boo was to paint the seat backs white. I didn't necessarily want perfection, I actually wanted a very flawless look.
I quickly and easily painted over the first coat of white paint. I let it dry and then applied another thick coat. This is where the hair dryer comes in. The great thing about chalk paint is that you can “dry” it. You can apply the heat very evenly, over time… or you can blast it. When you do this, the heavy paint areas will get a great cracked texture.
How To Create Colorful Folding Chairs
I am very happy with the end result. It wasn't like I thought I'd finish them. I really want more! An extra layer of interest with the white background and gray lettering adds extra depth.
Like how the comb in the beautiful water bowl I picked up fits perfectly on my metal chair. I bought that chair for a dollar. This is one of my favorite treasures!
I swear it's healthier and cheaper…I love it even more! I cleaned it up… but kind of dug all the scratches and rust spots. It gives it character. So no color change for this little darling. At least not yet.
