1. MEASURE AND CUT THE CIRCLE. Starting with the insert fabric, cut two circles 170 inches in circumference. I folded my fabric over itself enough to cut 2 at a time.

The easiest way to measure is by the radius of the circle, which is 27 inches. Cut a piece of string about 40 inches long and tie one end to a pen or safety pin. This will be your turning point.

Tie the other end to a piece of chalk or fabric pencil, making a rope 27 inches long from end to end. Find the approximate center of the area of fabric where you will draw the circle and hold the pivot point in place. Stretch the string until it is taut, then use chalk to draw a perfect circle. 2. MEASURE AND CUT THE SQUARE. From each type of fabric, measure and cut two rectangles, 87″ long and 32″ wide.

3. SEW ONE END OF THE QUADUM. Place right sides together, pin and sew the two rectangles together on the shorter side (32 inches). You will now have a long rectangle, 32″ wide x 170+” long. Do this for each type of fabric.

4. PIN THE CIRCLE TO THE RECTANGLE and SEW IN PLACE. With right sides together, pin the circle to the long edge of the rectangle. Sew in place with a 1/4-1/2″ seam allowance (depending on your fabric/sewing machine. Heavier fabrics should have more seam allowance, but if you're overclocked, 1/4″ will do).

Sew the short end of the rectangle (right sides together) after attaching it to the first circle to make sure everything is neat.

5. Pin and sew the zipper and bottom seam*. With right sides together, pin the second circle to the bottom of the rectangle, leaving room for the length of the zipper. Fasten the zipper in place. (I have a zipper tutorial HERE in steps 6-12 of my t-shirt pillow tutorial).

*Adding a zipper to the insert is optional. You can leave a 2-3 foot opening to fill the insert with foam and then sew it on.

6. FILL THE BOX WITH FOAM. It is in your best interest to follow my next suggestion carefully! Place the foam packaging INSIDE the insert before opening and exposing to air. It will expand like crazy and the foam is super static-electric so it sticks to everything. Once the insert is full, pin and sew! (Or zip it up if you made the insert with a zipper!)

7. PUT THE MATERIAL ON THE COVER. This is where you'll be glad you have mondo-big-o zip. Once the insert is in, close and you're done!
