Black Metal Frame End Table W/ Wood Top

I've wanted one of the 's wood top coffee tables for a long time. But what I always love is some of my budget. So, as any DIY enthusiast would do, I decided to make it affordable.

Tip: Use a cutting board at your local hardware store. They will always cut your tree to the size you need at a low cost.

Two 8-foot 2×6 boards were cut in half to give us four wooden boards for the table tops.

We cut two 8-foot 2×2 boards in half to give us four 48-inch pieces for the top and bottom of the frames.

Once we got home, we used the miter saw to make some small cuts: five 2×2 pieces of 20 (four for the top and bottom sides of the frame and one for the center piece for the mill table top). Also, 2×2 12 square pieces.

When arranging the frame, the position of the screws was a little difficult. Two 2.5-inch screws are carefully drilled into the eight corners.

We have made sure that they do not collide with each other as shown below. Or you can make pocket holes if you want with a kreg jig. Two additional screws are also used to fix the middle support part.

For the milled wood table top, I sanded it and then used my favorite black walnut wood stain to stain all four pieces.

For the legs I used two pieces of black wood stain which gave it the slightly metallic look I was going for. As most of these tables are metal looking legs.

The remaining twelve screws are used to attach the planks to the top 20-inch section of the table top frame, three screws per plank.

We will turn the table over to finish this part, hiding the screw underneath. (Note: We turn the planks slightly above so that they are beneficial to the frame).

Would you believe it if I told you that the average cost of a DIY industrial coffee table is under $75.00? And in fact, the work itself is not difficult.

I know that power tools can be scary if you don't know how to use them. However, if you cut yours at your local hardware store, all you have to do is paint or stain your desk and assemble. It's really that simple.

How To Build A Diy Sand And Water Play Table

One of my favorite aspects of the DIY industrial coffee table is that you can customize it for any occasion. Use different stains or paint any color you want for the space you are decorating. If you want, mix the measurements well. We love eating our food for so many reasons, but I love how easy it is to clean! Sooo, no big deal…. get up and randomly walk around the table, well… we're still working on it, but it's definitely more acceptable outside of society, right?

Big thanks to Jamison at Rogue Engineer for providing the digital plans. I can't express enough how much I love this table top!

I saw a table at Pottery Barn with thick, sturdy x bracket legs and I knew I had to have it. The only thing I think is the top is different. That's when I emailed Jamison at Rogue Engineer and told him what I wanted and decided I wanted to be able to use my kids as a launch pad…..and he gave me this beautiful DIY outdoor table . ! So be sure to get some download ideas from him so you can make one too! 🙂

I know this table looks a little scary, but it's surprisingly easy. This might not be the first project you want to do, maybe start with something simple like my DIY outdoor gardener to get used to using your tools. Don't get me wrong, you don't need to be an expert, but knowing these techniques will definitely help!

Lag / Bolt Table Legs To Frame

. It uses a slightly larger screw for a strong joint that can withstand the elements.

The first thing we will do is gather our “x”. Your hip joint surgery is being considered. Start with the two outer edges, then make all the other cuts between the two, this way you can make sure the hole is not too big. This cut doesn't have to be pretty, because it will break.

Once your thigh joints are cut, let's build the legs. You simply connect the two brackets together and secure with wood glue and screws. Be sure to cut where your hip joints are on the right side of the tree.

Because these legs are cut at a 45 degree angle, it leaves a very sharp point at the bottom of the legs. In order not to break the edges, you need to cut a little and sand it. Using your segment finder, find the small sharp edge where the line will be… look down (note: the legs are at the top in the picture so that's the part that sits on the floor).

Start from the top with your feet apart. The top is a base of pocket holes, so it's time to practice with your kreg jig! Connect the 2 1/2″ pocket holes.

This table is cut from a 2×4, so we need some edges. When the herringbone pattern is finished, you need to attach the trim, leaving a 3/4″ space where the 1/x4 goes up. The best way to do this is to add a scrap piece of 1×4″ under the frame. . Be sure to work on a flat (not level) surface.

Diy Outdoor Table: What To Do With Leftover Composite Decking?

Now comes the fun part, putting it all together! Attach the legs to the table top frame with wood glue and screws. I attached a 4×4 light beam to each leg (you will definitely need the Kreg Jig HD for this part). That way you can center it and make sure it's on both sides, and I find it easier to do it this way.

This can be the hardest part. It's not hard to do, but tiring. I definitely recommend measuring and cutting each piece separately here. Obviously, no tree is perfect, and it's surprising how easy it is to throw off your measurements when a board is too wide a hair. So the easiest part on top is to cut all my pieces and put them in. With everything lined up, using wood glue and my Ryobi AirStrike Finish Nailer, I attached one 1×4 to each.

Now all that's left is to sand and finish your new table! 🙂 I used Plum's Water Seal wood stain and sealer in Moroccan Brown. I really like this for the table because it is covered in one layer! And because I really want to make this table and I'm not waiting for everything to dry (impatient? haha).
