But let's move on, because you're probably wondering how to measure a dress. Unlike cushions, or if you are redecorating a chair, you can use old fabric as a pattern. When making a custom sofa, you need to measure your sofa accurately.
To join the panels, pin the fabric together and mark with a fabric marker where you need to sew the pieces together. For example, see the image below.

One of the things I will do next time to make the cover look more professional is to add piping to the arms. Instead, I pieced the fabric together and traced along the arm line.
Before wrapping the cover, you need to sew the back of the cover together. To place the slip cover securely on the sofa, you need to add velcro.
I cut two strips of fabric 4″ x 13″ and two strips of Velcro measuring 11-1/2″. You will have a total of four for each side of the couch.

Fold the fabric pieces in half and sew 1/2 inch from the top and bottom. Then cut the corner with the folded edge – this will give the fabric a point when it turns.
Place the Velcro fabric 1/2 inch down from where you started your stitching and pin in place.

To attach the edges of the cover, measure from the bottom to the top and pin in place. Finish with topstitching.
We are enjoying our new couch. I also wish I had added piping to the arms. And I noticed that because my couch is leather underneath, the cover melts a little.

I don't envy the primary school teachers today. A room full of kids working on sugar and the weather won't let you go outside for recess. A sure recipe for headaches and frayed bodies. Yes!

The problem I encountered is that when I change pillows, I need a place to store the old pillows. And I have no storage! So I decided it was time to start making slips instead of full pillows. Now I can just change the covers. They take up very little space. Wow
If you have the same problem in your home, I have written a pillow cover tutorial. I put the measurements of the fabrics of the most common pillows at the end of the post. I used canvas fabric to make the cover because I wanted to add other decorations to it. But if you use decorative fabrics, your pillow will not need anything extra.
You need to cut a long side of each piece. Fold the edge 1/2 inch and smooth.
