Tablecloths can be used with or without a tablecloth underneath. (We recommend using it only for a modern look.)
I usually use mine for decoration, but for this Halloween table, I’m using my DIY tablecloth to bring out the theme.

When thinking about making a table runner, I alternated between single-sided and double-sided runners. I became a two-way runner because I knew that the materials I chose would allow me to use them all year round! Plus, I have extra fabric to sew eight double-sided maps to go with the tablecloth.
One thing I’ve noticed while doing my research on the Internet is that there are a lot of choices when it comes to table games. Tablecloths are usually about 1/3 the width of a table, but some are wider and are usually 6 to 10 inches at the edge of the table. So if your table is 48 inches wide, your tablecloth should be 16 inches wide.
My table is 94 inches long, so 3 yards is perfect for this project. The cloth is long enough to have enough size to go around the edge of the table. I was also able to make 8 double-sided placemats from 3 pieces of fabric. Keep this in mind if your table isn’t as long as mine, but you want to make 8 placemats.
