I'll show you what you need, where to get it, and how to put it together so your giant bean bag will last for years and years!

1. MEASURE AND CUT THE CIRCLES. Starting with the insert fabric, cut two circles with a circumference of 170 inches. After my fabric is big enough on its own to cut 2 by 2.
The easiest way to measure is the radius of the circle, which is 27 inches. Cut a length of string about 40 inches long and attach one end to a pin or straight pin. This will be your pivot point.
Tie the other end to a piece of chalk or dust pencil, making the string exactly 27 inches long from tied end to tied end. Find the approximate center of the area on the fabric where you will draw your circle and hold the pivot point in place. Stretch the thread until it is taut, then draw a perfect circle with chalk. Cut out two circles.

Having a friend who can hold the pivot in place makes drawing a little easier.
2. MEASURE AND CUT THE RECTANGLES. From any type of fabric, measure and cut two rectangles, 87 inches long and 32 inches wide.
3. Sew one end of the rectangle together. With right sides together, pin and sew the two rectangles on the shorter side (32″). You now have a long rectangle, 32″ wide x 170+” long. Do this for each type of fabric.

4. PIN ONE CIRCLE TO THE RECTANGLE and SEW IN PLACE. With right sides together, pin the circle to the long side of the rectangle. Sew in place with a 1/4-1/2 inch seam allowance (depending on your fabric/sewing machine. Heavier fabrics should have a larger seam allowance, but if you have a serger, 1/4 inch will be strong enough) .
Sew the last short ends of the rectangle (right sides together) after attaching to the first round to make sure everything fits.
5. ATTACH AND SEW THE ZIPPER AND BOTTOM SEAM *. With right sides together, pin the second circle to the bottom of the rectangle, leaving room for the length of the zipper. Pin the zipper in place. (I have a zipper tutorial HERE in steps 6-12 of my pillow top tutorial).

* Adding a zipper to the insert is optional. You can leave a 2-3 foot opening to fill the insert with foam and then seal it.
6. FILL THE INSERT WITH FOAM. It is in your best interest to follow my next tip carefully! Place the foam pack INSIDE the liner before opening and exposing to air. It spreads like crazy, and the foam is super static-electric, so it sticks to everything. Once the insert is full, close and then sew! (Or zip it up if you made your insert with a zipper!)
7. INSERT THE THING INTO THE LID. This is where you'll be glad you have mondo-big-o-zip. Once the insert is in, zip it up and you're done!
