How To Make A Marble Resin Table Top – In this project I will share my experience of making a neat little epoxy resin table for my 2 year old daughter.
The back story is that he likes to follow me from room to room and I like to have him by my side. As a content creator, I always try to do things on my computer. As long as I'm around him, that's enough. I made this table a while ago, but it's too big to carry. So this table was created. For our purposes this is the children's table. For others, it would make the perfect nightstand or end table. The same concept can be applied to any surface. The resin I used is epoxy resin. There must be many brands out there, I have experienced it. I use epoxy because it is durable and easy to maintain. The more layers you have, the more wet you can sand to remove scratches.

You will repeat the same process for each setting. For the final layer I used clear resin.

For the second layer, I use the clay layer technique. I used all five colors, but you can choose any color you want to see in the final result. Then I took a four inch pipe and placed it on the white carpet. Make sure everything is prepared and ready to go, preferably 30 to 45 minutes after setting everything up.

Then, by turning slightly, lift the PCV tube and push it in the desired direction. It helps if you draw the pattern path instead of thinking about it while moving. I keep it simple; I put the rubber one way and the other. You can try anything you like, twisting, zigzagging, or whatever comes to mind. You can even glue a piece of work together to create movement in the design. Once you have a pattern you like, take the torch and blow the bubbles. Then leave it for 24 hours.
Check your work section. If it looks good, you're all set. Like I said in the video, I've had a few accidents so I need to fix that before I go any further. If my process is gone, I will be done. Adding layers of light paint will help, and I still recommend it – especially if you like the design. An extra clear coating adds protection. I would recommend light sanding with the following before applying the clear coat: 120 grit, 220 grit and 400 grit.
Remove the sandy soil with a damp cloth. Make sure the ground is dry. Add enough resin to cover the top, then set it in the work. Clean and spread, then torch. Leave it for 24 hours.

The design is simple with a two-inch marble top and 2×2 frame legs attached to the stretcher. This is not real marble. I used epoxy resin to create the gold and white marble pattern.
This side table has a melamine top. So, it is very important to prepare well before applying the epoxy. Otherwise the epoxy will not bond to the surface. First, thoroughly sand all surfaces and sides with 60-grit sandpaper. It should be sanded as much as possible to remove the melamine coating.

As I mentioned earlier, there are a few scratches on this head. Sandblasting will even remove these scratches and make them suitable for finishing. I dried myself and went home for the next step. We need to seal these exposed cell surfaces before the rubber application process. So I did 2 coats and one coat of white paint. Below I did one coat.
This is the difficult part of the project. I was worried about the setup because you only get a 10-15 minute window to get the pattern you want, and since it's the middle of winter, it might take less work. However, here are the facts you should know.
All epoxy projects should be done in a dust-free, well-ventilated area. Also, the room temperature should be within the manufacturer's specifications (usually 75 to 80 degrees F). I made this project during the winter months. So I turned on the space heater and set the resin aside. Wait for the room temperature to reach about 75 degrees and start mixing the resin. After mixing well in the big bowl for five minutes, I split it and put it in a separate small bowl to add color/dye and mixed for another 3 minutes.

I added a total of 3 quarts of resin. Divide into 1 quart for clear, 1 quart for plain acrylic, and smaller portions for gold, silver, pearl white glitter, pink white glitter white.
