The 24″ pieces should be drilled 3/4″ from the top and 10″ from the same end.
The first threaded rod can be inserted by hand, this is the upper back. The easiest way to insert the other bars is to stick them into the drill bit. They will feed themselves and make this part of the assembly very easy. When the rods come out the other side, install a washer and two nuts on each rod. Cut off the excess rod with a hacksaw. Install the remaining washers and nuts. The last step in assembly is to install the stops, these are the 2″ pieces. Insert 10″ into the top of the 24″ piece (the back legs) and glue the stops. When the chair is open, the 27 1/2″ pieces will sit on these.
