Start by measuring and cutting your fabric. For a cube you can cut 6 squares of the same size. For this size ottoman, we used an 18″ x 18″ square (meaning a cube about 16″ tall and wide, including seams).
First, sew the zipper. To do this, open and attach each side to one of your squares.
After pressing the 2 pieces together, sew 2 more square pieces to make a large row of 4 attached squares. Do this by placing a square wrong side down on the right square that is correct. Pin the edge and sew. Do this until all 4 squares in a row have been attached with all stitches on the wrong side of the fabric (no stitches should be visible when looking at the top right row). Join the two ends of your row to create a square tunnel and sew along the seam of the two pieces that come together – see example below.
