How To Install The Electrical Outlet

How To Install The Electrical Outlet – Get rid of the nasty and often dangerous viruses. You can add a new outlet quickly and easily without touching the wall, if you already have electricity on one side of the wall. There are no other holes. No damage to folding and repainting. The method we show here allowed us to mount our TV on the wall in a family room that had nowhere to go. Since there was already an electrical outlet on the other side of the same wall (facing the adjoining bedroom), we simply added an outlet to the family room and took the power to the bedroom.

This technology works only if you can use electricity as a power source opposite, or almost opposite, the area you want your new wall. To find out how to connect the outlet and if you can safely use the available power, follow the list below.

Always confirm the box size requirements with your property surveyor. In most areas, you will need an electrical permit for this work from your building department. This helps ensure safe operation. These are the 8 most common violations of the country’s electronic laws.

Tapping Into An Existing Outlet

Before starting any part of this project, turn off the circuit in the main electrical panel by turning off the breaker or removing the fuse.

Before touching live wires or terminals on a switch or outlet, use a voltmeter on all wires to make sure the power is off. If you have old, fabric-insulated wiring, call an electrician to recommend a safe connection. With such output wiring, there is usually no ground wire, and it is difficult to distinguish the hot wire from the neutral, because both are covered with black insulation.

Aluminum fittings require special handling. If you have aluminum plumbing, call a licensed professional who is certified to work with it. This wiring is not greenish gray, not the dark orange characteristic of copper.

For the past seven weeks I have been helping my father on his turkey farm. They are building 2 new turkey sheds and ran into a tight deadline, desperate times call for desperate measures 🙂 So I went to help him install all the systems in the shed. These systems include a lot of wires, electrical cables, water lines and sprinklers, natural gas lines and heaters, fans, motors, and more. A lot of work!

While I was installing the lights, I thought I’d take a few tutorial pictures. The pictures are for an industrial setting, but the same methods apply for home use. You can never have enough stores, right! Sometimes you want to add one here and there in the house/garage.

To connect a 110 volt / 120 volt outlet you need 3 wires, green or non-copper ground, white is neutral, and usually black or red is the hot (active) wire (in this case my hot is the purple wire). At home, you usually use Romex wire, which you can find at a hardware store. Usually you will find 14/2 which means the hot/neutral wire gauge is 14 AWG and includes a bare ground. This type of wire is strong. The wire I used on this farm is 14 avg stranded which means the wires are in a small strand bundle. Stranded is easy to use in an industrial environment like a farm.

Make sure the power is turned off at the switch where you are working. Unexpected shock is never fun 🙂

Using your electrical cable, at the 14 avg mark, strip the insulation from the wire about 1/2″ from the end. This will expose the bare copper wire.

If you use braided cable, it is easier to attach the spade to the straight wire. Slide the connector onto the vertical part of your wire and using the trimming screws press the connector firmly onto the wire. Pull the connector slightly to make sure it is securely attached. Repeat for each wire.

Loosen the green bottom screw and attach the green shovel to the green corner. Tighten the screw with a screwdriver.

Note: If you are using solid copper wire, make a loop in the wire and wrap it around a screw and fasten the screw.

Loosen the silver screw, connect the neutral wire to one of the silver screws. On a standard 110/120 volt outlet, the neutral wire attaches to the long prong. Tighten the screw with a screwdriver.

If this outlet is the last one on your cable, you just use the first set of screws. If you continue to go to another outlet, you will use another set of screws for the wires that go to the next outlet.

Next, loosen the gold screw and connect the hot wire to the gold screw (short top side). Tighten the screw with a screwdriver.

Now we attach the outlet to the box by setting it and screwing in the two mounting screws that come with the outlet. When you put the wire in the box, make sure that the bare ground does not touch any hot screws, this will short out your power and flip the switch when you turn it on.

Attach the outlet cover. We are ready to try it. Turn on the breaker and you should be good to go.

You want to make sure everything is up to code.”

First, we need to understand how the stereotypical outlet looks and works. There are three separate holes on the front of the socket and they represent different parts of the circuit. On the left there is a large vertical slot and it is connected to the tilt. From the point of view
