I also do not want cushions with ties that go with the back of the chair to hold the cushions to the seat. I wanted a linear look and had to find a way to secure the cushions to the chair without using ties.

1. Tape pieces of printed paper together to form a pattern. You need a piece of taped paper that is slightly larger than the seat.
2. Place the document on the edge of the table and place the chair on the table. Use a pencil to trace the seat of the chair. Cut along the line with scissors.
3. Place the paper on the seat and use scissors to cut the paper, if necessary, so that the paper has the same shape and size as the seat. This will be your template.

4. Place your pattern on the 2 inch thick foam board. Follow the pattern with markers.

Just cut two pieces of batting slightly larger than the foam cut and sew them together with a zipper. I used this so that it can move easily over the bat.
The bat can hit the sewing foot, to alleviate this, when sewing, place your finger in front of the bat to sew so that it is flat.
7. Turn the bag over so that the seam allowance is in. Put a pillow inside. Folding the pillow first makes it easier to put in the punching bag.

9. Cut two pieces of fabric, right sides together with the work surface. Take the closed foam and hit it on the fabric. Place it so that there is more fabric on the bottom edge. You need this to cover the back of the pillow.

13. To create a finished edge on the neck fabric, fold the green edge of the fabric twice and pin.

This is where I use the retail display method to help keep the fabric from falling off the chair since they have no ties. I use duct tape.
The carpet is a little scratchy and unstable, but it has enough “wood” to keep the carpet from coming off when you get up and down from the chair.
