Don’t let these corners scare you. Since they are all the same the 5 degree meter makes it easy! And also, this is a project that doesn’t require a hole in your pocket to complete. But I love my pocket mover, don’t get me wrong.

Start over, but cut the board on the miter saw. Of course, you’ll need a miter saw to cut the 5 degrees.

I chose to use 2×3 boards for the top cross support. But before I use the 2×3, I want to close the rounded edge. I used my table saw to rip off 1/8 inch on each side.

I used half circle staples for the cross support on this side table. And you can cut these grooves using a jig saw or a scroll saw. I prefer to scroll because I have more control.

That’s when the mini farm bedside table was born.

Please read the entire plan and all notes before starting this project. It is also recommended that you review the Getting Started section to take all necessary precautions to build safely and smartly. Work on a clean flat surface, free of imperfections or debris. Always use straight boards. Make sure there is a square after each step. Always drill holes before attaching with screws. Use nail polish glue for a stronger hold. For stained projects, wipe excess glue off the bare wood, as dry glue will not take the stain. Stay safe, have fun and get help if you need it. Good luck!

Fill all holes with wood filler and allow to dry. Apply additional coats of wood filler if necessary. When the wood filler is completely dry, sand the project with 120-grit sandpaper in the direction of the wood grain. Vacuum sanding projects to remove sanding residue. Also remove sand residue from the work surface. Clean the project with a damp cloth.

It is always recommended to apply a test coat to a hidden surface or scrap piece to ensure evenness and adhesion of the paint. Use a primer or wood conditioner if necessary. My husband and I have a running joke that our house is used as a bed and breakfast and friends and family come stay with us almost every weekend. We live for it. In anticipation of our guests’ arrival, I always look forward to setting up the guest bedroom with fresh linens, folded towels on the bed, and a pair of beautifully styled bedside tables. Creating a special space for your guests is not only a welcoming gesture and many compliments, but also increases the atmosphere factor by a million. I recently picked up some amazing pieces from Target, including a killer vintage-inspired bamboo tray table and some dreamy indigo linens, so I can share my bedside table styling tips with you.

Choosing a table: Choose an accent table where the top surface is flush with the top of the mattress, if not slightly higher. I love the unexpected use of a tray table as a nightstand. If you’re working with a small room, a light and simple table like this one can give the illusion of more space.

Books add height and dimension: Stacking books on a coffee table creates a higher surface, creating more depth and dimension. Plus, they add such gorgeous color!

Choose a low-maintenance plant: Most succulents only need to be watered once every two weeks, making them the perfect low-maintenance plant – especially if you forget to water like me! I love mixing textures and colors, so this ceramic plant helps tone down all the mixed colors.

Desk lamps take up less space: I love using table lamps on side tables because the bases take up less space and they’re really handy for bedside reading.

Step 1: Assemble a simple side table top. Apply some wood glue to the edges between the boards, then glue and clamp together. Alternatively, you can use 3/4-inch pocket holes with 1 1/4-inch pocket screws to attach the three boards. I just love their glue.

I cut my boards a little longer to make them shorter later; This creates a smooth edge. While the glue is dry, you can work on the base assembly.

Find the center of each 13-inch board and mark 3/4 inch on each side of the center. Then, mark the board 3/4 inch from the edge. Use a jigsaw and chisel to cut a notch as shown so that an X is formed when the two boards meet. Apply a little wood glue to the grooves and join them together to form two identical X’s. This is called a butt joint. You can drive 1 1/4 inch wood screws into the bottom to reinforce the half circle joint.

If you want, you can attach the Xs using pocket holes and screws. I like the half circle joint better. I used this addition on my super simple bar stool.

Drill 1 1/2-inch pocket holes in each leg of each X using a pocket hole punch and drill. Next, cut the legs and make a mark about 2 inches up from the bottom of each leg. Line up one leg of your X with the bottom mark and attach it using 2 1/2 inch pocket screws.

After cutting and sanding the top and base, turn it upside down on the work surface and place the base on top, making sure it is centered. Using 2-inch wood screws, attach each leg of the upper X as shown.
