After the Roman Empire occupied Petra in 106 AD and a strong earthquake caused great damage, the city fell into ruins. Dubbed the Lost City, only 15% has been revealed, and this amazing city still has secrets to uncover!
High in Rio de Janeiro at the top of Mount Corcovado sits Christ the Redeemer, one of South America's most beautiful sights! At the suggestion of the Catholic Constituency of Rio, construction began in 1922. This stunning statue was designed by sculptor Paul Landowski and created by architects Heitor Da Silva Costa and Albert Caquot (with Gheorghe Leonida also designing) in Art Deco style. It took nine years to complete.

Did you know that the Kukulkan Temple was designed so that the sun casts the shadow of a serpent on the tower? Kukulkan is the name of the Serpent God and during the spring and autumn equinoxes, a steady shadow resembling the body of a snake slowly moving in a circle – not very pleasant!
Enjoy the beauty of the famous Taj Mahal mausoleum in North India! This great monument was commissioned by Mughal Emperor Shan Jahan after the death of his wife and construction took place between 1632-1643. Construction! Shan Jahan also lived in his last home with his wife in the Taj Mahal.
The main structure of the Taj Mahal is built on the banks of the Yamuna River and is surrounded by gardens, fountains and lakes. Its architecture is very beautiful with unique qualities of signs and balance. A mixture of Islamic, Persian and Indian, it is made of precious white marble – a stone reserved only for select and often sacred places. Intricate details and patterns cover the outer walls of the Taj Mahal – including Islamic inscriptions by Amanat Khan, which mainly include verses and words from the Qur'an.
