After the youth controversy, the Bills sent a seventh-round pick to the Seattle Seahawks for Jackson, who spent the 2012 season as the team’s third-string player behind Fitzpatrick and Thigpen. Pennington’s career was largely forgettable, but he did start nine games for Dick Jauron’s 7-9 Bills. Of course, this team finished 27th in the league and gave up 47 sacks, so it won’t hurt your NFL career at all. Pennington did not make the team that season and played in five games with the Atlanta Falcons in 2007 before retiring.
Like Pennington, Scott was a low-rounder who only played one season with the Bills, so the two are somewhat interchangeable. Scott’s experience was recent as he started eight games in the 2009 campaign. Scott had a more complete career than Pennington, starting 35 games over seven seasons with 5 different teams. However, as far as the Bills are concerned, no one player has been as memorable.
After stints with the Dolphins, New York Giants and Oakland Raiders (whom they fired midway through the 2011 season), Hagan was signed by the Bills midway through the year and appeared in four games with one start. He played well during that stretch, returning at least two passes in every game and had seven catches for 89 yards in a season-ending 49-21 loss at New England. He remained with the team during the 2012 preseason, but was cut before the season began. He returned to Oakland that year and spent 2013 with the Titans before retiring at age 30.
My lasting memory of Ubot is his ridiculously long neck, which tells you everything you need to know about his game on the field. He got decent playing time early on as a slot cornerback and started seven games in five seasons in Buffalo. He did well for the Bills, playing in 27 games over three seasons (he missed one week of the 2007 season with an injury). During the 2008 season, Simpson was arrested for disorderly conduct after he interrupted another man’s arrest while yelling about how he was worth millions. He wasn’t cut right away, but he was traded to Detroit for a seventh-round pick before the 2009 season.
