Matt: I’m so thankful that my son was born during that terrible time at the Flyers. I don’t necessarily think they’re bad, but there’s some value in buying less and sticking with them when times get tough – and maybe even a lesson. That means he can always say he’s been a fan since he was 22, which means he’s had some lean years. Kurt: I appreciate the fact that even though we all know how desperate the state of this franchise is in the short and long term, we’re still able to find joy in certain moments and performances. It’s easy to say the Flyers should pitch, and, well…they probably should! But happily we don’t feel like we’ve gotten to a point where we can’t cheer when they do something good on the ice. There are interesting things going on here, even if the big picture is pretty bleak. If you want to see it all here, enjoy yourself.
Kelly: I’m grateful for the fan community that has stayed engaged despite the state of the franchise and invested enough to keep it engaged. all the time. It sounds clever, I know, but I mean it. Between us. Still, despite the (mostly legitimate) complaints, most of us don’t seem to be going anywhere. That means our weird and sad family of Flyers fans will be together for at least one more year. Like we did last year. Talk about line combos, complain about fourth line plugs, collectively hate the front desk. Honestly, it’s really cool when you step back and think about it.
Thomas: I’m more than grateful to the Flyers for screwing it up. I’m also thankful that we were able to have fun together and enjoy watching the first two weeks of the season, but I’m overwhelmed by the fact that this team has come back down to earth; Fall off a cliff, onto the ground, or any analogy you like. This gives us an idea of what this Flyers season will look like, and how we once again spend two months before the NHL Entry Draft doing prospect research and hoping for some lottery luck. They have some tough competition, but given the way they’ve played the last few weeks, I believe they can get there and be one of the worst teams we’ve ever faced. good luck!
