Matt: I am so thankful that my son was born during this truly terrible time in the Flyers’ lives. Kurt: I’m thankful that even though almost all of us know how hopeless the team’s current situation is in the short and long term, we can still find joy in the moments and performances here and there. It’s easy to say that the Flyers should increase, and, um…probably should! But it’s great that we don’t seem to have gotten to the point where we can’t enjoy it when they do something great on the ice. There are good things going on here, although the overall picture is pretty bleak. If you’re here to watch it all, you might as well enjoy it while you can.
Kelly: I’m so thankful for this community of fans who, despite the state of this franchise, continue to be involved and invested enough to be VERY VERY ANGRY. WHENEVER. This sounds complicated, I know, but I’m serious. We could be the Arizona Coyotes without real fan engagement or interest because there aren’t many of them. But it exists
From us. Even until now. And despite the complaints (most of which are legitimate), it doesn’t seem like most of us will get anywhere. That means our extended family of oddly disgruntled Flyers fans will be together for at least one more year. As we did last year. Speaking of line combinations, complaints about the 4th line stub, the collective hate of the front office. Honestly, it’s nice to step back and think about it a bit.
Thomas: I’m thankful the Flyers lost recently. I’m also thankful that we were able to have fun together and enjoy watching the first two weeks of this season, but it was overshadowed by this team falling apart; falling off a cliff, nose to the ground or whatever metaphor you want. It really gave us a sense of what the reality of this Flyers season would be like and how we could once again do prospect research in the months leading up to the NHL draft and hopefully good luck in the lottery. They have tough competition but with the way they have performed in recent weeks I believe they can succeed and become one of the worst teams we have ever seen. Good luck!
