Brandon started playing volleyball in Chester, Virginia when he was 16 years old on his high school volleyball team. As a senior, Brandon was named Virginia State Player of the Year and coached for over 10 years. She achieved a third-place finish in the National Volleyball League and also won the “Most Improved” award in 2016.

Kim grew up in Michigan and moved to Florida to play professional beach volleyball. She played four years of indoor volleyball as a setter at Eastern Michigan University and one year of beach volleyball at the University of North Florida, where she earned a master’s degree in educational administration. When she’s not on the field, you can still probably find her at the beach, traveling or playing with her Bengal cat, Rick.

Often the first step is thinking towards awareness, because you cannot be aware of it now.

It’s like being able to be a little bit more aware when you’re dreaming, like keeping a journal about it can be really useful, helpful, or just talking about it with other people and thinking about what happened.

Today we’re interviewing professional volleyball coach and health and nutrition coach Kim Hildreth, a native of Florida who spent some amazing years in the NVL a long time ago, and in 2019 she absolutely broke through in the AVP.

And we’re here to pick her volleyball brain about health and nutrition, and see what we can glean from her game and experience.

We talked a little about travel credit card points and this young startup that doesn’t have a travel credit card and is giving away free points.

And I know you don’t only have knowledge about travel, you have a lot of knowledge about volleyball, beach volleyball, and your business.

People who are making a career out of their passion for sports and maybe we can reconnect for that.

But for today I want to give a little interview about when and why you started playing.

I found that I could play more volleyball in the summer than just a volleyball camp.

So I got involved in the local adult community when I was 16 or 17 and I started playing some of these tournaments, like three-grass, four-grass.

All Things Figment

I had to sneak in one year of beach volleyball in college and played at the University of North Florida.

And then I finished my master’s degree from there and had to get some kind of internship at the university.

And I got a position at the University of South Florida, which brought me to Tampa.

And then when I moved to Tampa, I found Kristin Batt, Megan Wallins, Cher Harris, Raquel Pereira, Lima to be number one.

So I started training with all the vets like OGS and that really got me involved.

But my family is in Michigan, so it’s so far, I’m definitely discouraged about getting a master’s degree and everything.

Yes, that’s it. Having said that, around the time I started playing in the NBL, I actually started making more money in the NBL and playing in similar local tournaments in Florida than I was making in training.

For example, I was an academic advisor for the athletic department at the University of South Florida, but at that level I was like an intern.

I earn something every hour and I think I earn more from tournaments and training.

I think you are one of the few who work part time and I can say that I actually score more than volleyball.

I mean, living in Florida, honestly, that’s what makes it possible because Florida has a tournament every weekend.

I make the finals pretty consistently, so I make $200-$500 a weekend like I’m playing in a tournament.

As I was new to beach games then, I think I got a lot of games.

I actually play a full tournament on Saturday and then a full tournament on Sunday and now I’m about twelve games deeper into veteran status.

I remember coaching this USA Performance Camp and one of the coaches, because I wasn’t really involved with the juniors, and they looked at the girls and said okay, put your hands up.

I forget what conversation we had, but raise your hand if you’ve played over 50 tournaments and everybody raises their hand and I look at the guy next to me, I’m going, you said 15, right? And he left, no.

And it’s like a six-month period because it’s fall and they’re talking about summer.

Raise your hand if you played 50+ tournaments this summer and these juniors did what you did where they won 50 tournaments in a few months in the summer.

How to do it in summer? I said ah, now the juniors, they have tournaments in the summer on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays.

I played with so many people this year and I really learned, I mean I just learned how to win and I learned a lot of different types of volleyball.

I learned a lot from myself, which helps me now when I play against teams like this, knowing what it’s like.

So I think it gave me a lot of perspective on the game, playing with so many different people.

And it doesn’t hurt that I only pay about $400 a month in rent because of Florida.

Can we reveal a bit about learning from different types of players? Because I think there’s two schools of thought, and one of them is, listen, learn to stay with your partner and think about the issues that come with him, not the usual way, like, I think the mindset of US beach volleyball pros is something. there is nothing wrong with my partner.

Instead of going through four or five years of discomfort like in college or some other team and saying this is my family, they’re used to it.

Do you think it’s worth playing with more people or does it make more sense to spend time with your teammates and try to figure out how to solve this annoying problem?

Well, I do both, so I think there’s a point in your career where you have to stick with your partner to really break through, like a top-five situation, because of Olympic qualification, that’s how it works.

You have to think about it with your partner, but I think if you can and if you’re young and still thinking about the game, I think there’s more potential in playing with a lot of different people, but it also takes a lot of maturity to play with the same people for a long time , because it became a very intense relationship.

So you have to know how to communicate, you have to have a difficult conversation, you have to go through ups and downs with someone.

So I think both have value, but I think you can get to the top either way.

But I think I still like it to this day, I’ve kind of learned by playing situations with different types of people with different needs.

I think the more I play with different people, the more I get to know who my opponents are.

My partner may not be my opposite, but I know more and more what different people are like and how they react differently to different situations or what they need on set or for example what their attack options are or what they can do. defend because of their athletic ability, size, maturity, age, whatever.

I think I only have this database
