(wow) Words Of Wonders Level 470 Answers – I know it's me!!!! I can't wait to see what happens here every morning! Before I start my thread today, I thought I'd give a quick shout out to those of you who are in the middle of your big “count” to 100!!!!! 100 years!!

I love going to school with my song lady hat on and I had a great trip to Louisiana last week. I was lucky enough to visit Thibodaux with the wonderful WeeWonders as they prepared for their 100th day of school: playing and learning!

What a great fishbowl as the year unfolds! How do you spend your days at school? I would love to see it!

Here are some photos from Bexley, Ohio on Maryland Ave. Elementary, where I have been invited several times for 100 days as part of the Greater Columbus Arts Council's Artist in the School program. These projects are done at home under parental supervision. What a wonderful connection home + school for kindergarten students!

Some parents are more involved in “homework” than others. Look at it! yes, that's what a gray day looks like in central Ohio, and 100 marshmallows are enough to represent the equivalent of a snowfall. PERFECTLY!

With the growing readership here in our collaboration, I have more and more questions, concerns, worries, panics, excitement about choosing a topic for my monthly contribution. It all went out of my head and then our Amy shared such a great article about all the colors a few days ago. PLUS you dropped the first of all our links here! We really are constantly growing!

Wanting to collect some of my previous articles from my blog, available here, I have been thinking about drawing and children since then. It seems like a good time to take off the musician hat and put on the artist hat – to start the conversation about “process” vs. “product” as it applies to PreK + K [as well as toddlers and first graders.]

What is the picture? What is a craft? What is the difference? What benefit (art or craft, process or product) do you provide to the children you serve? Are all the same? One more than the other? Do you have a good reason for which experience you used, when and WHY?

It's all about engagement, research, experimentation. The joy of life. The time is near. Immediate results. The process is by definition an “open” experience. You and the media, and there are no right or wrong answers. It's literally: go with the flow + see what happens. It's probably very ugly. ABSOLUTELY unpleasant event! It's always a lot of fun. It's personal: a process. It's moment by moment, GAME by GAME (get it?) presentation by material, medium, moment.

Everything revolves around parents, grandparents, the refrigerator. It's usually nice and gets a response of, “Oh, you're doing ______.” There is prejudice. There is a process, we have to travel and take steps in order. The teacher reads the parts. The teacher first cut out the intricate details. First this. Then that's it. It goes here. It goes there. Add some of them. The teacher adds a magnet. Voila. It is often very difficult to separate your friends from your friends. Sometimes this is actually impossible.

I always argue that teachers believe that “products” are used to “teach” a subject. I'm here with a fine arts degree + education + camera to tell you that “technique” can be used to teach effectively. Check out these penguins to learn more.

All of these students had access to paper in the same colors, but the finished products were all completely unique. Individual. Personally. Some artists continue to take their works torn into BIG packages, others in small pieces, but all artists work in process. As my mentor Mimi would say, “It's safe at any speed.” These kids know what their job is. I promise. You can even take a good guess at which one your child created…without even looking at the script in the attached reports.

What can I say about these 16 penguins? Were they born on the same day, from the same parents on the same iceberg, and were they the same every day of their cloned lives? In my opinion, it's like a science experiment gone wrong. I said it there. I'm taking a stand here. I'm not a fan. If you were a parent volunteer for the afternoon, could you guess what your favorite child created? I do not think so.

In fact, I think you'd be hard-pressed to find 16 copies like this anywhere on earth other than a severed industrial pen. (Although, if you look closely, there is some difference in the placement of the feet… and that guy in the middle of the bottom row obviously has a lot to say.) This teacher was very busy. These children have the opportunity to learn gluing. Don't get me wrong, there is a lot to learn about gluing.

Do you see the difference? Does this make sense? I know that “artistic” teachers go primarily to the economy. This is a topic for different things. I see that all teachers are loaded with their education and professional knowledge. I know every teacher has huge bulletin boards, but do you see the opposite “polar” learning experience for these Penguin students? step

A Special Message From The Oceanside Chamber Of Commerce

He is a very smart teacher, or parent, or grandparent, or librarian, or scout leader, or board member who is able to create “strategic opportunities” for his players and get “products” for refrigerators, souvenir and gift giving events. Here are two ideas I saw and ironically both use my favorite element of circles and dots as a base. That's probably why I thought about photography – way before Pinterest!

Beautiful umbrellas for the upcoming spring season. The semicircle is filled with a circle. It is clear that a model is presented that offers the idea of full circle colors using the lines of the rainbow design. (You know, I can't help it.) I don't think 80% of kids will come up with this important idea by accident. However, there is room for individuality and self-expression in this design concept. Here's something new — unlike the Penguin Stepford Wives we've seen before.

Each child, in this case all with special needs, receives strips of green paper of different lengths. Dyes of different colors are available to everyone. Each child pairs their finished project with a person to create a unique heirloom – suitable for a stainless steel fridge or professional painting. Together. Process + product. It can be done and successfully achieved.

Food for thought. Because we know about multiple science and how important it is to allow every child's potential to shine… Because we know about learning styles and preferences and how to use “VAK Attack” in the education we intend to support, visual , auditory and kinesthetic learners are important – then we need to consider and pay special attention to children's experiences: process and product when planning our time together. We need to know the benefits of what and tailor experiences to fit the curriculum.

My advice? The younger the children, the more “process” time for the visit. What about 80/20 Kindergarten? Eighty percent process. What percentage do you use and why? Before the development stage, how about 90/10: the ninety percent principle.

Life is good with balance. We need free and creative thinking for the challenges of the day. We need out-of-the-box conveniences that are built into the process when the light bulb goes out. We need more light bulbs to go out! I believe the light bulbs go on when we are on ART! We need individuals, and lone wolves, and adventurers, and dreamers, and poets, and researchers. We need creativity. We need artists!! Maybe now more than ever! We need those who know how to collaborate and work well with others, which we know as an empowering art. Arts is documented to do all of the above.

We also need specific experts who know how to follow complex instructions piece by piece and build a bridge accurately. We need craftsmen who know exactly the possibilities of following precise instructions. Sometimes there really is a “right” answer, and 2+2 really should = 4 every time – no manipulation, no coloring outside the lines made by the surgeon – at least in my surgery. We need mathematicians and engineers. So we may end up needing process AND product familiarization. I think we need ART first and foremost. There is always time for art.

I personally prefer that children have many opportunities for the process
