My understanding of what happens is: you clicked on the sub-button (as below), but you only got a page asking you to enter your email address and nothing else. Since you are already an email subscriber, you don’t want to enter your email address again… So ???
What I think is happening is that you are not logged into Substack on that particular browser / device, so it doesn’t recognize you as an existing subscriber – so it invites you to sign up.
If you click on the small drop down menu at the top right of the page and then click “login”, you will get the option to email the login link. After clicking that, when you return to the subscription page, you’ll find the support options instead of the email signature box.

Amazon has been in talks for weeks to buy MGM for about $9 billion, industry sources told Variety. At Constellation Software’s recent (virtual) annual meeting (which I wrote about in issue #126), Mark Leonard proposed a book (the transcript is strange, because Mark speaks in full paragraphs):
Let me tell you a lesson I learned… Roy Thompson wrote a book I love called “After I’m Sixty”. I am 65 now. So maybe I’m writing a book “after I’m 65”. And if I could achieve the success that Roy achieved after sixty. He left North America and moved to the UK, took a small amount and started again and did great. He clearly knows the newspaper business, very well and is very good at the newspaper business. But where he scored very well was in the early days of television and then in the early days of North Sea Oil. So he did two things that were completely outside of his core abilities, and he did them very well. And so if there’s an example out there that I want to follow, it’s them. And so when I look at things that are outside of the software vertical in the market, I hope that I can be like Roy in finding things that are unusual and unexpected. ITV was the first time, I think, that TV licenses were granted in the UK. which are not authorized by the government. And North Sea Oil, of course the bonanza, but those were the very early days of the bonanza. He was an opportunist. And we may have to if we can’t get our core business to use our capital. But I still hope we can do better in the heart.
So if you wanted to read Thompson’s book in 1975, you probably looked it up and it was out of print and copies were going for $350 or more.
