There are only two entrances to Machu Picchu: the main gate and the sun gate. Although the latter is reserved for those who enter Machu Picchu via the Inca Trail, more than 4,000 ~ 4,000 people are allowed to enter the ruins each day.
The bus takes visitors up a rough mountain road from Aguas Calientes (where the train station is) and drops off right in front of the entrance. From here you just have to follow the signs. There is absolutely no way to lose. Just follow the circular path around. In fact, there are guards all over Machu Picchu keeping an eye out for unsuspecting visitors or any crimes (rogue activity is rare.

Machu Picchu was built in 1450 but was abandoned when Europeans came to Peru. Much of Machu Picchu has been rebuilt, although it remains in ruins.
There are two different ticket options for entering Machu Picchu. It’s often a little confusing about this, so I’ve outlined the three options you have. You can’t, stress, you can’t get a ticket to Huayna Picchu or Mount Machu without a Machu Picchu ticket.
There is only one hotel in Machu Picchu (Belmond Sanctuary Lodge). All tourists should stay in Aguas Calientes and visit the Inca ruins (this is a list of the best hotels near Machu Pico). There are three different ways to do this.
Buses from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu start at 5:30am. It takes about 30 minutes. It costs US$24 round trip.

There is also a hiking trail from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu. This option is free and will take you 60 to 90 minutes to cover an altitude of 400 meters.
There are many tours to Machu Picchu. The Ancient Inca Trail takes 4 days (25 km) and costs around 500 USD depending on the agency you choose. You will need tickets and an authorized guide. You cannot go alone. People taking one of these tours enter Machu Picchu through the day gate (see below) and spend the night in Aguas Calientes after the Machu Picchu tour.

The weather in Machu Picchu is very consistent throughout the year in terms of temperature and humidity. During the day you can expect the temperature to be around 25 degrees Celsius throughout the year.

However, the rain is different. Although there is little rain from May to August (dry season), between November and March heavy rains approach the growing season. The climb to the Inca Trail and Hiena Pico is closed for maintenance in February.
There are many different places to visit in Machu Picchu and I thought it would be nice to show you some of the sights. You may remember them all, but even if you remember a little, it will add more depth to your journey.
You start the walk around Machu Picchu on a narrow path that soon turns left on a relatively steep slope. To the right, you can see the Sun Gate (Intipunku) and Mount Machu (more on that later). In the animation, the guard house appears at the top of Machu Picchu, offering the first and best view of the ruins.
The famous photo of Machu Picchu was taken here. You can’t miss it because there is a sign saying to take a picture. Pay attention to the selfie sticks and be patient if you want a photo where no one else is in it.

But what is the Guardian Palace? Well, technically, you’re not in Machu Picchu here, but outside the city walls. Hiram Bingham thought this structure was due to the bark, so he created it
However, this will be your best view of Machu Picchu. So find a good place to sit and enjoy the views. Of course, you can always come back later, but since the weather can change quickly, be safe!
The area you’re standing in is sometimes called the farming sector because there are only a few flat areas (which can be surprising). The guard house, sometimes called the guard house on the summit.
Behind the guardhouse you will find the so-called human rock. Human remains have been found at this site, indicating that it may have been used as a burial site. This is all speculation without facts as there is no written record.

That is why the place behind the human stone has long been called the “cemetery”. Machu Picchu, the great land of the Incas and its tomb. Some rocks show carvings (waterfall shapes). There is some debate as to whether this site was also used for sacrifice (human or animal).
Looking down from the watchtower to Machu Picchu, you can’t miss the Grand Staircase. This is the main staircase of Machu Picchu and follows the wall of Machu Picchu. The history of the Incas was not pretty, and this palace was also built for conservation.
Follow the road below and enter the town directly through the main gate. First you will see the urban sector, where the original inhabitants lived. The houses here are small and narrow, with thatched roofs under wooden beams.
Note that the architecture and stone placement is simple, unlike the palaces and temples you will see later in your Machu Picchu tour.

If you look to the right, not only will you see a beautiful view of the valley below, but you will also see the mines. Machu Picchu is not finished yet, and at this point, you can clearly see it. It is still unclear why it was abandoned before completion. Before the Spanish defeated them, the Inca Empire suffered from constant warfare and almost 2/3 of its population died from a devastating disease. Machu Picchu is very expensive to maintain.
As you follow the winding path in the urban sector (see today and odd!), you will reach the main temple of Machu Picchu. This square is probably a place for ceremonies and important events. It is often called the Holy Plaza.
Machu Picchu may have been a traditional center rather than an actual city (unlike Cusco or Pisac). The main temple has large fine walls. You will definitely find many places on the walls. it’s sacred (
