This is a wonderful winter dish. You’ll want a piece of bread on the side to soak up the delicious liquid – trust me! (P.S. I actually don’t like thyme, so I prefer the dish without it!)

I tend to avoid recipes where I have to do the whole bread thing because it’s a lot of steps, it’s messy, and I just don’t like it. This recipe was the perfect substitute for chicken parmesan because it didn’t have a wrapper and was easy to make when my family was over. I made spaghetti out of it and mixed in just a little bit of butter. Everyone loved it!

Even though I’ve been reading mostly nonfiction for a few years now, I prefer fiction and have been trying to be much more thoughtful about indulging in pleasure.

I couldn’t resist making one more good post before the end of 2022! Who could leave it at 254? LOL. Plus, I’ve shared a lot of Christmas cheer with you, including a list of things I make for our various holiday gatherings. Let’s start there!

For both family gatherings we always provide a bowl of hearty summer sausage and crackers. This soft cheese spread will be a great addition to the mix. I prefer about half the amount of green onion. You can even substitute 1/2 t. or dry onion powder.

I’ve made this cake once before and oh yes…it’s full of apples, incredibly moist and full of flavor.

When my brother texted me and my mom about what to bring for our Christmas dinner, dessert and “Adam’s Favorite Salad” were on my list. I knew exactly what he meant!

Speaking of food, my friend Joy shared a beautiful and simple table on Instagram last month. Here is a link they shared online on how to do this.

These are my top 10 favorite books of what I’ve read in the past year (out of about 28) in rough order of most popular.

I have to admit; I almost didn’t listen to it because I thought the whole “navigating a post-pandemic world” thing was over. Still, I really wanted to hear Vanessa Cornett, and I’m glad I did. Both long episodes were 100% worth listening to. He has a wonderful insight and a special way with words. I might even go back and listen again!

In this blog post, Daniel shares a series of creating transitions between songs in different keys for a seamless musical experience in Christmas worship music. beautiful!

Transparent leaves?! I knew there were clear bookmarks, but not the big sticky ones! Thanks to teacher Rebecca Brown for sharing on Facebook for piano teachers. Mines are on the way!

One of the items I mention are piano sets. The resource I have always used is Hal Leonard’s Christmas Piano Sets. However, this year I want to try a different resource – Lauren Lewandowski’s Piano Ensemble Music.

It has three Christmas carols (Jingle Bells, Jolly Old St. Nicholas and Carol of the Bells). As of this writing, they are marked down from $14.50 to $8.50 – I bought all three!

Music Teachers Helpers Helper was the first online music studio management software (at least that I was aware of). He was bought out a few years ago and is now a Duet partner.

I really enjoyed hearing the story in this interview on the Music Studio Startup Podcast with new owner and CEO Neylan McBain.

“The Musical Communication Podcast” was created as an extension of the Ploger method. In this podcast Marianne and her producer Karen explore their method, perception and knowledge of music and how we can develop fluent musicianship.

I’ve never made this turkey recipe, so I can’t vouch for it, but I’ve been a fan of Smitten Kitchen for years. We also made some recipes last year that used Gochujang (fermented chili paste) sauce and we really liked it. I don’t think it will make the turkey spicy or have an “Asian food” flavor, it just gives it a nice deep “Umami” flavor.

The second is a series of videos of MLT-trained teachers showing how to “teach melody.” It is mainly aimed at music education, but I still find it inspiring and useful to see their process.

While working on one of my speaking sessions available this year, I discovered a very useful tool on Canva.

This is the color wheel. You can enter one color and it will give you many other colors that you can use in combination with that color. This would be very useful if you have a studio or brand logo with color and want to add more colors to it.

Canva is part of my daily work. However, when I was working on the slides, at first I wasn’t sure how to use their slide templates and then easily change the color scheme without changing each element individually. I knew there had to be a solution. As always, I had to google it! The place for it is at the bottom of the page and I didn’t even see it until I read about it.

Even though I’m only one chapter in, I’m already really enjoying this short book by Anne Lamott.

I first bought this book and one other book at ThriftBooks.com. It was a great way to get a book in good condition for half the price! Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!

In the first chapter of the aforementioned book, Lamott mentions Merton’s prayer, a beautiful, raw prayer that we can all relate to at some point, if not often, in our lives. I printed it out right away.
