Surface Duo 2 Review: A Huge Step In The Right Direction, But Still Much Work To Be Done

I thought it was legit and probably the longest camera I’ve ever made. I want to take a moment to give a shout out to Jared and Ari for absolutely crushing it as a podcast and music mentor. I distinctly remember the first time you brought up the idea of creating a podcast. At the time, I was transitioning from building modern music to wearing different hats and doing everything on my own, and we started building this amazing band. You and Ari, two of the greatest people I know, started talking about this podcast idea. This is the first time I’ve let my kids and modern artists go, keep the ball in your court.

You two turned around and had an amazing show on the podcast, starting at #2 on Apple Podcasts. I’m like, “Wow, I need you to do more.” I have to leave Modern Artists because our group is great. You, in particular, have done an amazing job on the podcast. So thank you, Jared and Arie, and a big shout out. So both of you and especially our team, I want to share… sorry I’m like totally rambling here But it’s important.

Back to the songwriting, the timing of this was perfect, but there were probably half a dozen people who recognized me and recognized modern musicians. In particular, she was upset when I introduced myself. And she was like, “Oh Michael Walker, Michael Walker from the Modern Music podcast?” She never saw my face except as a profile picture of a piano note. She has been listening to podcasts for a long time. Then she recognized my voice. It was a great moment. They’re like, “Man, the podcast really touched a lot of people. I think it helped a lot of people.” You’re really responsible for that, so thank you Jared, and thank you Ari.

Thanks man. It makes me so happy that you can interact in real life because I know we have an audience. I know people hear it every week. Since we started podcasting, we haven’t missed a week of recording. So we’ve been releasing a new episode every Monday since we started this thing. You are a great host. I think you did a great job with the luxury items that all our guests have. So today is really interesting for me, or fun, because I can be the host of the podcast and you can be the guest of the podcast. And it’s beautiful. So let me officially introduce you here.

So I’m very happy because today I’m with one of the most amazing people I know. He is a father of three, a talented businessman, a talented musician, and a personal consultant for the past five years. Neo’s music industry matrix helps music artists scale, giving artists the tools, community and guidance to transform how they influence their fans and live the life they love. Welcome to the Modern Music Podcast, Michael Walker.

Yes, it’s amazing! That’s great, because honestly, I feel like the roles are completely interchangeable now. I could interview you and it would be an amazing podcast. But it would be fun to take it back and be a guest on today’s podcast.

Yeah, man, it’s a lot of fun. So, for the people watching or listening now who don’t know your whole story, can you tell us a little bit about your biography and how you became a modern artist?

So I started touring full time in high school. I quickly realized that booking a tour wasn’t enough, I needed to get people to see the show. I remember the first tour was just doing a lot of shows for bartenders in the back of the room and empty spaces. At the time we lived in a van and slept in Walmart parking lots. We used to go to Walmart and buy a bunch of flour, a big jar of peanut butter, and peanut butter tortillas for breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day. My parents would call me, “How’s that team going?” Like, “That’s great. That’s great.” But basically we were the definition of starving artists.

It changed everything around us, and we sold 24,000 CDs after six months, which is the first thing in my life when I look at my life personally and think about everything I do. . I am 30 years old. But of all the things I’ve done in my life, our old man came up with an idea called Tour Hack. In short, we know that our favorite bands like All Time Low, Mini Parade and Blink-182 have millions of fans. I grew up listening to and worshiping their music. In their shows, they continue to tour, before the show, when they are on tour, they have thousands of fans, sometimes they line up all day to see them.

So we thought, why not go to these guys and get to know each other and share some of our music? I was a very shy and awkward kid, so it didn’t come naturally to me. I remember shaking and stumbling when I came out to people. But what we’ve found is that the people we connect with are really receptive because they’re fans who actually go out and put their heads behind the music, and they really care. So in about six months we sold 24,000 CDs. For that reason, one of the bands we tour with, All Time Low, is our idol… The first song we cover as a band is Dear Maria, I Count Me In All Time Low. They heard what we were doing. They gave us the opportunity to open for their next tour. So it’s a dream come true.

Our career really took off and we started touring and connecting with a lot of our favorite bands. Finally, we released an album that hit #2 on iTunes. We have about 24 million streams.
