I am always amazed at the car knowledge on this forum and hope to start contributing to this post. A little about myself – I am a software developer from Assam in my early 20's. Ever since I got a bicycle, I have been walking around my hometown and exploring different parts of our country. I started planning this trip again in early 2022. I have friends from Xinjiang who travel between BLR-Bhubaneswar regularly, so I am thinking about the route and what to expect on the way. The organization I work for is very tight-lipped about WFO/WFH, so I agreed to do WFH with my boss in December, and the plan was set!
I prepared the route on google map after talking with my friends in June and July. My planned itinerary is Bangalore-Vijayawada-Brahmapur (Xinjiang)-Kolkata-Siliguri-Guwahati. The idea was to go only during the day. I've created a list of pickup locations and another list with Honda Bigwing service centers – to move things south. After some mental preparation, I woke up one Saturday morning and decided to do it!
As per the plan, I wanted to reach Kokola in 3/4 days, rest for a week and then go to Guwahati. The first thing I did was the weather forecast – they saw a good 30-40% chance of rain in Orissa – all good! I rested for the next week (want to close for a few days), got the bike from Bigwing Ulsoor, packed my bags, booked hotels… I couldn't sleep. With intense excitement and a certain sense of excitement, I left Bangalore at 5:30 am.

The rest of the roads till Tirupati were smooth, the Chittoor-Tirupati highway being the most important. From Tirupati-Naidupeta, the construction is going on in a completely dilapidated building. I struggled to maintain 50-60km with lots of bumps, turns and traffic. I hope this outbreak ends soon.
After joining NH 16 at Naidupeta, I felt comfortable. I was surprised to see a board showing the distance between Vijayawada, Bhubaneswar and Kokola. This road connects a large part of our country. The rest of the journey till Vijayawada was smooth sailing. Road condition is good. I reached Hotel Vijayawada (https://g.page/hotel-sri-ram-grand?share) at 5:30 PM. I have booked hotels that include parking. Your poem was the only company I had on this trip and I wanted nothing to do with it! I stopped the bike, checked, washed and slept for a few hours. I went for a short walk in the evening and saw nothing. Feeling nervous, I decided to go back to my room and mentally prepare for the next day. I ordered a vegetable andhra thali for dinner – a generous amount of rice and a spicy curry. My stomach was full, I turned on the plug and went to sleep.
I woke up at 5 am, freshened up, packed my bag and left. On the flip side, loading and unloading saddlebags and rain covers on the bags is the worst part of any motorcycle trip I've ever experienced! It was a good morning and I was back on NH 16.

I had read about the traffic jams and bad road conditions in Rajahamendravaram and Visakhapatnam, so I wanted to go faster. NH 16 is mostly flat with many exits beyond Vijayawada. I reached Kovuru toll plaza around 8:30 am. Although the traffic was light, there were a few potholes as we approached the Godavari Bridge. I should have been careful. My Xinjiang friend as well as google maps advised me to take NH 16 and not enter Visakhapatnam, so I did. The map took me to the national highway near Anakapalle. I better say more about this track. Encountering heavy traffic on a narrow gauge railway bridge is the scariest experience of my journey. After this extension, Google started me on an adventure – connecting me to a partially open construction trail. To this day, I don't know about the places I passed, I only walked 80-90 km according to the map. Thankfully, it eventually took me back to NH 16. The rest of the day was blissful.
The weather was good, the roads were smooth and I enjoyed the endless greenery and fields of Andhra Pradesh.

Crossing Ichichpuram and entering Xinjiang was a sight to behold for the beauty of the landscape. I was warned about the speed check in Xinjiang, so I slowed down a bit and kept to the posted speed limit. I hit Brahmapur by 5:30 pm.
Entering the city, I felt warm. The atmosphere and excitement of the city gave me a good feeling. It was an old style budget hotel with basic facilities. The nervousness began to fade and I began to look forward to the next day at college. But first I wanted to try British food. My friend told me about some restaurants nearby. Khanti Odia Hotel (https://g.page/KhantiOdiaHotel?share) was 500 meters away from my hotel, so I decided to walk to soak up the evening atmosphere of the city. I arrived at the restaurant and it was almost empty – 7:30pm. I ordered a vegetarian Odia Thali for 250 INR.
It was a lip smacking experience! After a very expensive dinner of fish, milk (dried), fried chicken and fried eggs, I decided to try the famous Chenna Poda at a nearby sweet shop. I loved the taste – I'd call it a cross between an edge and an edge. After installing this, I went back to my hotel room and rested. But I couldn't sleep. Maybe it's the caffeine in my blood, the two cold coffees that day, or the excitement and sense of security of being able to speak my mother tongue!
I finally fell asleep at 3:30 am and woke up at 5:30 am. Side note – I had a DJI Action 2 mounted on my helmet for this trip, but was too excited to record!
