The numbers are spelled out (“1979” becomes “Nineteen Seventy Nine,” for example. “Back 2 Good” becomes “Back To Good.”)

Acronyms are ignored (ie the long “FM” will be in the middle of the letter “F” instead of outside).

Song covers? We ignored the artist's spelling and put the original first, then the cover.

Now that was fun. We've just finished our annual showcase of thousands of songs from our music library, all in alphabetical order.

“Thank you” to our sponsors A to Z: Dreyer & Reinbold, Indianapolis Home Show, Jokkamo Upper Crust Pizza, Kaplan University, Chatham Home. On March 8th, the management team of General Electric (NYSE:GE) announced two important developments that investors should be aware of. One was to increase the size of its board of directors. And another important issue was the important stock recovery plan. This latest situation may seem strange to investors who have seen the as a troubled in recent years. But when you consider management's expectations for the future, combined with the 's strong fundamentals today, this particular move makes a lot of sense. This is especially true when you consider the 's stock price right now.

According to an SEC filing, General Electric announced two noteworthy changes to its operations. The first of these was the decision to increase the size of its board of directors by two seats. The has already appointed three people to these positions, following the decision of an existing director not to stand for re-election. This change probably won't be the company's most important decision going forward. But it is important for investors to keep an eye on the changes in the business.

The most interesting of the changes, however, was the company's launch of a $3 billion share buyback program. This represents a large amount of equity for the company, representing 3.1% of its $96.91 billion market capitalization. Some investors may think the smartest move would be for the company to channel that cash into additional dividends. But with the stock off 3.4% from its 52-week low and 24.1% off its 52-week high, it's not hard to imagine why management made the decision.

In recent years, General Electric has struggled in many ways. In the beginning it started with poor performance in all its parts, the worst example was its Energy part, poor demand and poor operation which led to wastage of material. Due to factors within the company's control, such as the significant insurance premium it was forced to pay, and factors beyond its control, such as the grounding of the Boeing (BA) Max aircraft and the aircraft's fragility. With the air market affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, it seemed that the company's problems would not end.

As I wrote before, however, the management has worked to reduce costs. In addition, many problems were solved and the company paid off a large debt. Largely as a result of asset sales, the company has reduced its debt and other similar obligations, on a net basis, by approximately $80 billion since 2018. In addition, some business operations are also showing signs of life. For example, in fiscal 2022, management expects free cash flow generated by the company's aviation segment to be slightly lower than the $4.3 billion in 2021 revenue in 2020. compared to the $0.9 billion it earned last year and is expected to be higher compared to cash flow neutrality in 2020. Another positive development for the company is that the order book has started to increase. After falling from $245.43 billion in 2019 to $230.6 billion in 2020, it rose to $239.82 billion last year. This shows that the long-term demand for their products is growing again.

Of course, some investors may argue that management should either reduce debt or focus on growth. I would like to emphasize the last one. But when it comes to credit, the picture is strong and improving. Currently, cash equivalents, including the value associated with the company's stakes in AerCap Holdings ( AER ) and Baker Hughes ( BKR ), should be equal.
