We’ll rank them according to excitement level. In other words, we rank them based on how much emotion they generate in the fanbase, city, and organization. Who can best drive ticket sales, merchandise sales (important since the new uniforms are dropping soon), and interest from fans, local and national media?

Rosen’s NFL career is remarkable, spanning just two seasons. Rosen was sent to Miami, where he played poorly. Very bad team – before Ryan Fitzpatrick was traded. His name doesn’t get mentioned much as far as the Bucs are concerned. That’s a good thing. It’s hard to think of an option that provides more inspiration in the Tampa Bay area than Rosen.
Bad curiosity. That’s how I would describe the little interest I’ve had in seeing Mariota in a Bucs uniform this fall. The speed with which the social media team simply announces the signing is worth it. He was clearly the quarterback many fans wanted to draft Jameis Winston in 2015. He spent five uneventful years in Tennessee. He finished with a winning record on multiple occasions and even won a playoff game in 2017, but the former Oregon star’s time with the Titans will be remembered more for the disagreements and problems. He’s unlikely to get a starting job anywhere in 2020 — unless it’s a few weeks of vacancy — and he’s not Bucs-bound. But isn’t it funny? I laugh though.
Dalton had a solid nine seasons with the Bengals. He made three Pro Bowls and five postseason appearances (but was 0-4 in those games … missed the 2015 AFC Wild Card game). In the right conditions, he is very reliable. Fortunately, in recent years, there has been a stigma surrounding the 2011 second-rounder. Coming off four straight losing seasons, Dalton is not someone fans think of in a positive light. He still has one year left on his contract with the Bengals, but Joe Burrow could immediately take over as the No. 1 pick in this year’s draft, and Dalton could step up this season. But Tampa Bay fans — and likely everywhere else — will be disappointed if their team puts the 32-year-old in the starting position.

Tannehill is 49-49 as an NFL starter. A quarterback’s wins aren’t a stat (that’s important to remember), but his record is a good indicator of what he’s accomplished in his career: a good average. He spent 2012-2018 with the Dolphins before joining Tennessee as Marcus Mariota’s backup in 2019. In the end, however, he threw 22 touchdowns and six interceptions and led the Titans to a 7-3 playoff record. He then made it all the way to the AFC Championship Game – thanks in large part to the skills of Derrick Henry. Now the soon-to-be 32-year-old will find himself again as a freelance lawyer. Carr’s name was one of those thrown around recently. He went to three Pro Bowls and helped the Raiders to the playoffs in 2016, his best year (3,937 yards and 28 touchdowns with six interceptions). He has defended the football his entire career, never throwing more than 13 interceptions in a season while completing 1.9% field goals over six seasons. The 2014 second round pick can put up big numbers with the right weapons. We saw it when he had Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree. So the prospect of seeing him play alongside guys like Mike Evans and Chris Godwin is intriguing, so it’s an acquisition that could do wonders for Tampa Bay. The Bucs should trade him even if they could, his deal is cheap enough to be attractive. But it’s the value and consideration of the name that matters in these particular lineups, and it’s hard to see an enthusiastic reaction if he gets the Bucs. Of course, any advantage quickly disappears once he starts winning games.
Boy, Bridgewater seems to have popped up among Bucs fans like Jameis Winston. It seems to be one way or another: you either love the idea of red and pewter or you hate it. The Bucs are said to be interested in the 2014 first-round pick after a 2019 season in which he went 5-0 as Drew Brees’ backup in New Orleans. He threw for 1,384 yards and just two interceptions in those games, proving he’s still got some left in him after suffering a non-contact knee injury at Louisville in 2016, but his NFL career seemed less of a highlight reel. He’s a much more reliable ballplayer than a guy like Winston who hurts the ball all day long on the field. But he also showed that he knows how to do anything to win. While his style of play may not bring much excitement to Tampa Bay, he can quickly make up for it by limiting mistakes and rolling to wins.
