For this process, I use a soft tape and a safety pin. Place the pin on the end of the tape measure in the corner of the folded fabric and then on the table. My table skirt was a bit longer than I expected. I will probably raise it a bit so that the bottom touches the ground and the seam between the circle and the case is higher. The idea was to start construction about 1/3 down.

Today I want to show you an easy way to make a round tablecloth for this table or any other table setting you have.

Step 1. First, you will need to measure the width of the round table. Then measure from the top edge to the floor, or as long as you want the tablecloth to hang. Finally, decide how you will finish the edge of the tablecloth. Will you be applying a product without seams, edges, rolling or rash? To determine the length of the piece: top width + drop (length) x 2 + amount of bottom needed (if here – add 1/2 inch, if covered – add 1/4 inch) x 2.

If you have a fairly wide piece of fabric, such as a bed sheet, skip to step 4.

Step 2 Most fabrics are not wide enough to make round tablecloths, so you will need to cut them into pieces. To find out how much fabric to buy, take the length above and multiply by 2. To cut fabric for sewing, I simply fold a large piece of fabric in half, joining the top and bottom, and cut along the fold. Then I fold one of those pieces in half lengthwise and cut along that fold. You should now have a large rectangle with two lines the same size as the rectangle but half as wide.

Step 3 I fold each piece of fabric in half widthwise to find the center point and start placing the pieces right side out, off center.

Step 4. Fold the folded fabric in half lengthwise, meeting the seams and edges. Now fold it in half so that the top and bottom of the fabric meet. I like to pin the edges so nothing slips.

STEP 5 If you can work on a surface that you can stick the pin on, that would be great. My hardwood floors have small gaps between the boards and are perfect for me. I have marked which corner you want to stick the pin.

Step 6. If your tape is like mine and has a small hole for a nail, measure from the edge of the hole to the flat metal edge of the tape (probably about 1/4″). Add that small amount to 1. . Add /2 of the length of the piece you identified in step 1. Not that hole if you have it, use 1/2 the length of your cut Place the pin in the middle of the tape measure Set 1/2 the length of the cut plus 1/4″ if you have a hole. Now run the pin through the folded top edge of your fabric and stick it to the surface if you can.

Step 7. Insert a pen or pencil into the gauge hole and carefully draw a curved line on the fabric. It will rotate your tape measure on a pin at the top. Take your time and don’t pull on the tape measure, but pull slightly and slide it through the marks.

Step 8. Cut 4 thicknesses of fabric in a curved line. When you unfold the fabric after cutting, you should have a nice big circle. Work the edge of the circle with any hemming method, and voila!

Making a beautiful round tablecloth from your favorite fabric is very easy and very enjoyable. Start with a large page and try.
