I have been wanting to have a height adjustable desk in my office for a long time. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find another DIY tutorial that allows you to easily and inexpensively build an adjustable height desk. So I decided to make my own.
How To Make Adjustable Table Legs
The solution I found allows the table to be adjusted from 60 cm (~23.5 inches) to 125 cm (~49 inches), but it’s easy to raise it a few inches – I’m not that big.

2 hanger tracks :: Habo from STARK (Dansih Hardware Store), but HomeDepot has something similar :: $13.1 ($6.55 each)
2 Twin Brackets (Reinforced) :: Habo from STARK, but I think you can also find these at HomeDepot: ~$11 ($5.50 each)
Note: The IKEA VIKA KAJ legs have a maximum height of 90 cm (~35.5 inches), so I had to make two wooden blocks to support the weight of the table when standing. This can be avoided if you can or find the legs you want to stretch – eg. IKEA has a VIKA BYSKE that is adjustable from 70cm to 107cm, but it wasn’t tall enough for me. I’m sure this part of the project can be made smarter and nicer (see step 4).

The total width of the table is 100cm, but you need to lift it up, so I placed twin brackets 5cm from the edge on each side, which gives me enough room to comfortably stand on the table and lift it up. to give New position
Also, behind the table, I put two brackets with a distance of 4 cm, which makes it easier to see the hanging rail and create a hole.
After a few uses of the table, the double brackets started to lose their grip on the table – I think this is because the IKEA VIKA AMON table is not sturdy (it’s chipboard!) and the screws don’t hold well. Since I can’t find adjustable legs (extendable enough) off the shelf, I’ll have to go with the IKEA VIKA KAJ (for now) and then make a “support leg” out of wood.
It’s very simple and cheap, but not the best solution in town (but with my budget, materials and time – maybe it’s the only solution?).
To make the four legs, I used wood that measures: 212cm x 9cm x 4cm (~83.5″ x ~3.5″ x ~1.5″)

3) Roll the 22 cm (8.66 inch) blocks two by two to make four blocks.
5) Screw the small blocks (with the hole in the middle) onto the four 22 cm (8.66 inch) blocks.
1) Find two metal pipes about 60 cm (24 inches) long, where one has a smaller diameter than the other.

I think it works, the screw adjusts the height of the legs, and if you want to change the height, first open the screw, lift the table and return it.
2) Fix the hanging rail to the wall so that the distance between the hooks matches the distance between the holes of the hanging rail. It must be blue! (Straight up and down.)
If you’re smart, you can place a bulletin board between two “hanging sticks.” It’s very easy and cheap, and there are several examples of how to do it yourself.

1) Buy an inexpensive cellotex sheet and cut it to the size of the distance between the hanging rails. The height is up to you.I was shopping around Home Depot when I came across a bench that they sell. It had a folding design and was mostly 2x4s, one 2×6 and a MDF top. It was $79. I looked at it and thought, “I can do that.”
I cut two 2x4s to 72″ to get two 72″ pieces and two 24″ pieces. Together they form a frame.
For the legs, I sawed 4 2″x4″ in 34. Then I cut the corners into uneven triangles to make the next part easier.

Then I connected the four legs together and rotated the triangles. This allows them to act later.
I then cut four 20″ 7/8″ pieces, glued them and screwed them to the legs for support. One for each base pair near the bottom and middle.
I put them where I wanted them, tightened them both to the thickness of the screws, then put washers and nuts on the screws to hold them in place and was on to the next one!

Then I took some pallet wood and cut it to 27″ and screwed it in!

The weather is getting better in the north and it’s time to go camping again. We like to forget our cell phones and head into the woods from time to time (I even wrote a blog post about my favorite camping gear). I’ve been wanting to build a folding table for a while and have been fascinated by PVC, so I decided this would be a great opportunity to add a pre-made pipe to the build.
While the construction process is really straight forward and easy to follow (even for a novice builder), creating building plans takes some work. So, I decided to pay a little extra for these premium designs (same story with folding desk or folding desk designs).
Even when I plan in Google Sketch-Up, I always find unexpected problems and make changes as I go. Here are some tips and tricks I’ve learned about this build and the products that make it easier:

Some pieces of wood need to be serrated and also torn (cut to length). These cuts can be made with a cordless circular saw. I have a few tricks to make the process easier!
1. Purchase rigid foam insulation to act as a cutting surface. This allows you to fully support the material while cutting and not worry about the blade damaging the work surface below.
2. Buy a comfortable pair of knee braces (I wear super squishy husky jelly knee braces). To break larger materials, you can kneel down and drag easily on the floor. Then you can move the smaller pieces to the desktop if you want.

I like to use impact drivers for almost everything, but since cedar is such a soft wood, I can easily blow it out and do a lot of damage if I’m not careful. Enter my absolute favorite impact driver.
I love the Makita Sub-Compact Cordless Impact Driver! It has adjustable speed settings as well as slow start and “assist” mode when accelerating if needed. This will definitely help prevent screw removal!
To add strength to the pipe leg pieces and prevent them from buckling, I had to attach diagonal support arms made from 3/4″ PVC pipe.

The fastest way to cut smaller diameter plastic pipe (1-5/8″ OD and smaller) is to use the Ratcheting Husky PVC Cutter. Very easy to use and accurate. I love using it. With one hand, I keep the other free. To keep the material safe
Surprisingly, PVC is actually very soft when heated and can be molded into stronger and simpler shapes. (Watch the build video to see what I’m talking about)
I used a heat gun and Kreg face clamps to align the 2-1/2″ ends of each pipe parallel to each other.

Then I realized that PVC is easily shaped with an electric sander. I used a cordless belt sander to smooth the corners of the leg arms, create a full radius and hinge, and move the arms.
So with any piece of furniture that has moving parts, stability is always an issue. Is this junk? Is it sturdy enough to use?
