Begin by making a four-legged belt. These are the 2×8 center boards we cut about 7 inches from our table. You don’t need to tear them for this design, but it will change the shape a bit. These are 30˚ angles on each board. Attach the smaller pieces to the top and center of each larger piece using plenty of wood glue and 2.5 inch spax screws or wood screws.
Add the first of the 6-foot boards to the two-foot assembly. Close them both together using wood glue and a 2.5″ screw through the 1.5″ hole. The baseboards are 2×6 boards, not torn. They will be covered by the trim and we want the legs to be as big as possible so they don’t pull on those boards.

Add the other 2 pieces in the same way. They will fit on the center legs and attach them with 2.5″ screws through 1.5″ holes. The open pocket will face the outside on both sides. Be sure to use plenty of glue between each leg.
Now add the pillow. These are 1×8 boards that will raise the table slightly off the floor. This will give him stability that we see! Attach each slat using wood glue and 1.5 inch Spax or wood screws.
Next, connect the two paths. These are the 2×6 boards we cut five inches apart. The top rail will have a 1.5″ pocket hole facing up and the bottom rail will have a 1.5″ pocket hole facing down. Attach the two runners between each leg using wood glue and 2.5-inch self-tapping screws.
