How To Build A Wall Table – Hi, I’m Amy from Hertoolbelt with another build. Today’s project is a simple wall table. It’s a great choice if you need to add desk space to a small space or create a homework area for the kids. The inspiration for this project came from this beautiful desk mug found on Homes & Gardens.

You can easily adjust the size of the wall table to suit your space and needs. I chose to make a large table that was 16″ deep by 40″ tall.

How To Build A Wall Table

Cut 3/4 inch plywood or chipboard to 16″ x 40″ (or depending on your measurements) Cut 1″ x 2″ and 1″ x 4″ the same length as your desk.

At the end of the 1×4, mark 3 1/2″ above the board. Use a bowl or a circular object and trace the curve between the bottom corner and the top 3 1/2″ mark. Use a hacksaw, scroll saw, or band saw to cut. Repeat for the other side.

Pre-drill holes in the back of the table board (3/8 inch from the back) every 4 inches or so to attach the round wall plate. Use wood glue and about 1 1/2″ screws to attach the table top to the wall plate (cover the front with pocket screws if attached, and drill the holes for now.) Cut the front about 1 1/4″ back to create a small lip to hold things in away from the table. Use wood glue and 1 1/2″ precision screws. To attach the front edge to the table top (or use the pocket holes on the bottom.) After the glue has completely dried, remove the excess modifier and sand the table smooth.

I couldn’t find shelf mounts similar to the BHG Inspiration Table; However, you can make your own support or buy it off the shelf.

For curved media, print the following patterns (make sure printer is on at 100%, not fit to page) Media 1 and 2. Align patterns, tape, and cut. Trace the patterns on the wood you want to use, such as a 2×6. Cut out the brackets using a band saw, scroll saw, or jig saw and sand fine. If you want narrow straps, you need to tape the straps together to get the width you want. In the drawing, the brackets are 3 inches wide, so you need to glue 2 brackets made of 2×6 material.

Place the table against the wall where you want to install it. Determine the height of the table you want, the average height of a normal chair is about 29″, and a stool table is about 36″. Pre-drill holes in the wall plate to connect the wall studs. Place the table and secure it to the wall with at least 2 1/2″ screws. Attach wall and table brackets to support the table.

Remove excess glue, and use woodworking tools to drill holes, cracks, and spots and allow it to dry. Sand the table with 120-150 grit sandpaper to a smooth finish, always sanding in the direction of the grain. Paint or paint the table and let it dry.

Determine the size of the table you want to create. Anything between 22 and 24 inches deep is good for people to eat comfortably. This table contains two chairs and measures 23 inches deep by 47 inches wide.

Transfer your measurements to 3/4 inch paper and use a 4 inch level or straightening tool to make a straight line to connect the marks. For this table, we cut one 48″ x 24″ piece for the back and one. 47 x 23″ piece for the table.

Use a circular saw to cut the back of the table frame. Cut 1″ x 4″ pine boards for your wood framing. For this frame, we cut two boards 48″ long and two boards 22 1/2″ long.

This table is made of pieces measuring 23″ x 47″. To avoid a flimsy table, cut four pieces of 2-by-2-inch pine boards and line them up under the plywood sheet. Our repair consisted of two pieces of 2″ x 2″ x 21 1/2″ and two pieces of 2″ x 2″ x 47″.

Apply wood glue to the edges of the plywood and attach the two 47-inch boards at the top and bottom, then the 21 1/2-inch sides using 1 5/8-inch screws.

Sand all edges of the frame and tabletop smooth and fill the screw holes with wood putty.

Sand the stack wood to make it perfect. On all parts of the table, but try not to paint on the piano hinge. When the frame is dry, paint your table in the color of your choice. To prevent spills, use a glossy or full-gloss varnish.

Using a 4m level, measure and mark the wall where you want to install the table. Locate the studs around the frame.

Build A Flip Down Kitchen Table

Have a friend mount the foldable table to the wall above the marks and attach the frame to the wall where your studs line up with the top and bottom frame using 3-inch screws.

Cut the piano joint with a saw the length of your table; It’s easier than it looks. Place the table top on the frame as if the screen were folded and screw the piano pegs into the back of the frame.

Allow the table to flex until it is at a 90-degree angle to the wall and frame; Add 25″ chains to each side, starting at the upper end of the chain, and tie the lower end of the chain to a snug tension, supporting the weight of the table.

Fold the table back into the frame and insert the door lock in the upper left or right corner when not in use to secure the table top to the frame.
