To temporarily raise the height of your desk, buy bed runners, which are wooden or plastic supports that go under your desk legs. For a more permanent solution, buy bag legs or get 4 matching pieces of lumber. Then attach them to the bottom of the table legs with countersunk screws or screws. If you want the new legs to fit inside the table, sand the wood so that the legs fit into the extension. You can also paint the bottom of the legs the same color as the rest of the table. Read on for more tips, including swapping table legs for longer legs! What do you do if you buy a table that is too short, such as a nightstand, side table or stand?

I got it cheap at a yard sale, even though it was solid and the jewelry was soldered on. I think it was because it was so low to the ground. Since she didn’t have a mate (or a suitable counterpart), I knew I wanted to do something special with her. It should be a standalone piece. But for this it should be a little higher.

So I went to Lowe’s and got these little leg extensions for $2. Next, I drilled a hole in the bottom of each leg and screwed the leg extensions into place (the legs came with screws). It was a simple project that didn’t take a lot of time or money, but it paid off very well in terms of the overall look.

How To Style A Console Table

I have been asked many times how I paint to achieve texture. I was going to comment but thought I’d show you a quick couple!

I go in every direction to cover the piece with paint as quickly as possible. If I painted in one direction or in flat sections, it would definitely take twice as long. I start in one place (usually a corner) and deliberately ignore the brush strokes as I go. I use the “forehead” technique to get into small spots or grooves in the wood, rather than trying to fix the brush marks that hit.

I found that Annie Sloan Chalk paint wanted to paint in all directions. This is artistic paint! That’s why he loves text created with this color style. I also like that I can paint like this on a table or dresser and then just before waxing I generally do a light sanding to smooth the way and color the texture a bit. It’s a very smooth texture, but with wax, especially dark wax, it creates a subtle texture and makes it more interesting and unique, rather than the perfectly smooth finish you get with just latex.

I had a custom made dresser with the same color palette and design, so I thought why not an end table? This way people who love my Union Jack dresses but don’t have the space or money for one can get their beautiful original shades of blue without spending over $150!

For example, how did you exchange roses for boxes? 🙂 I took an equal number of photos with both to see which one was better, and most of the roses just didn’t match well with the focus and exposure. Plus, that pink look caught my eye more than a union jack! 🙂

It’s hard to tell in this photo, but I’ve actually polished both coats of polish in this photo. Rose at Wood Icing showed me how she uses wax and flowers and it seemed to add stability, especially on table tops and dressers, so I gave it a try! It has a matte finish all over the body, but the top part is super glossy…which I absolutely love!

The Truth About Coffee Tables And Why You Need One

If you’re local, go to Wood Icing in Chesterfield Mall and you’ll see this amazing table! I have a small table that I bought 5 years ago from a local classified ad for about $25.00. It was in my living room until a recent remodel when I moved it into the kitchen/dining area. Although it is a little small, it was perfect for my small family (single mom with two small children). And its smaller size makes my kitchen space feel much bigger. The only problem was that it was too short/low for my seats.

Most tables are about 30′ long, mine was 28′ long. I couldn’t sit comfortably in my dining room chairs and tall guests passed out. So I decided to make it higher. It only took about 10 minutes to install, including painting and drying. With coating and drying time, it took about 45 minutes to get this table on top…

And I bought 5/16″ x -18″ x 3/8″ thick stud nuts (found here) that the collar legs attach to (see photo below).

Then the table was turned upside down. Fortunately, the center of my table legs is already marked. If you don’t have one, be sure to mark the center by measuring the diameter of the leg and marking the center. Do this two or three times back to back to find the center.

I then used a 5/16″ drill bit to drill a hole 1/3 of the way down. Note – if you don’t have a 5/16″ drill bit, I recommend just buying one (like this one). It was only a few dollars more than buying one piece. Now I have over 10 more bits for future projects – awesome.

If you see holes on the side of this leg (photo below), please note that I did not drill them. They’ve been there before – who knows. I don’t mind, the table still works perfectly and they didn’t mess around with this project.

Before painting I flipped the table over to make sure it wouldn’t wobble – it didn’t. It was very strong and still is (I’m writing this 3 weeks after the project was completed).

Then I painted all the legs and put a few coats of paint on each one. To match the color, I took one of the existing legs to Sherwin-Williams and matched it. I only bought a small amount (sample size) for a few dollars.

Tip – I’ve found it helpful to use masking tape, cups, etc. to dry your feet.
