How To Make A Lounge Chair
Recently, my husband and I realized our dream of building a pool with a composite deck around it. And since we ended up with additional patios, I saw an opportunity to use them by making a few lounge chairs.
The model I designed has a backrest that folds down, straight, angled legs for a modern look, and a long seat with a cane so we can put our feet up while watching the kids . The composite material makes the chairs quite heavy, but corrosion resistant fasteners and polyurethane glue hold the pieces together, so I’m happy to say that the chairs are tough and virtually maintenance free. . To make them perfect for lounging, all you need are long cushions that cover the seat and back.

Folding Sun Lounger With Cream White Cushion Solid Teak Wood
Note: The instructions in this guide do not include actual measurements, so it is important to find the pillows, measure them and design a frame that fits them. For this design, Jenn bought chaise lounge cushions and made a frame to match them.
Composite flooring lasts well outdoors, but it has different properties than wood. Here’s what you need to know when working with it:
TIP: There are many tools available for drilling and plugging screw holes in composite decking, but I found it easiest to drill the pilot holes with a ¼-inch drill bit before installing. -in the dowels.

Follow the cutting list above and cut the deck to size using a table saw and then a jigsaw. Apply polyurethane adhesive to the unfinished composite surface one short leg and one long leg. Align their bottom edges and press them until the glue hardens. Drill four pilot holes through the longer leg and into the shorter one; drill with a 1/4″ bit, then attach with 15/8″ screws. Cover each hole with a plug. Do the same for the other legs.
Place the shoulders of the front legs on the bottom edges of the sides of the frame, 91/8 inches from the front end of the frame. Glue, attach, and secure them with 15/8-inch screws. Attach the seat support rails on each side with the slots facing down on each leg. Using the same screws, glue, clamp, and attach the guides to the sides and ends of the frame, 1 inch below the top edges.
So that the backrest fits evenly on the backrest, cut the shoulders according to the thickness of the backrest support. Then glue and attach each leg 11 inches from the end of the frame.

Position the backrest supporting 1 inch from the installed seat support. Drill a 3/8 inch hole through the pieces 1 inch from the end of the backing rail.
Place the sides and ends of the chair frame on their horizontal edges perpendicular to each other. Drill two pilot holes through each end plate and on the sides. Attach the pieces with glue and 3-inch screws; hide the screws with plugs. Glue and attach the support rail pieces to the inside of each end of the frame.
Drive a sliding screw through the outside of each frame and each backup support arm. Insert the screw heads into the assembly. Add the washers, then tighten the locknut on each bolt with a wrench.

Place the first rod on the front end of the frame, then glue and attach it and the other six rods to the fixed guides. Attach the ends of the slats with glue and two screws, leaving a 1-inch gap between them. Assemble the U-shaped frame for the backing. Place it on the back legs, glue and attach the rest of the slats to the frame.
Screw two 5-inch-wide boards to make an L-shaped shelf to build the backrest; attach the shelf between the back legs. Make a U-shaped leg with glue, 3-inch screws, and three lengths; attach it to the frame. Now attach the double blocks to the inside of the frame to support the backrest horizontally.

Remember that you can adjust the size of the wooden lounge according to your needs and tastes. That said, you should still use the same woodworking techniques described in this project, even if the parts are different sizes. Sand the edges of the components with a sanding board and 120-grit sandpaper, or round them with a router and a 1/4-inch blade. Make the deck chair legs out of 2×4 lumber. As you can easily see in the picture, you need to make a 3/4 inch deep notch at the top of the legs. Make several parallel cuts and remove the excess with a chisel. Define the recess with sandpaper.
First, make the living room chair frame. So make the sides out of 1×4 lumber, the legs out of 2×4 lumber, and the supports out of 1×2 lumber. To attach the legs to the frame, the top part must made with a circular saw.
Good tip: Drill pilot holes on the sides, countersink them, and drive 2 1/2 inch screws into the brackets. Work on a flat surface and make sure the corners are at right angles.

The next stage of the project is to attach the seat slats. To apply the 1×3 panels, we recommend that you install the 1×1 bracket first. Align the brackets with a hand level, drill pilot holes and insert 1 1/4″ wood screws.
After that you need to cut the 1×3 slats to the appropriate size and glue them in place
