How To Build A Round Chair – We made a 48″ rustic modern round table out of dozens of 2x4x8 tables for our basement game room and I’ll tell you how we did it! It was a challenge to make, but we love how it turned out!
The basic concept of creating this table is simple, but to be honest, we faced a lot of problems while creating it, although now we have a lot of experience in creating things. After the surface of the table is fully assembled and the glue is dry, it is time to cut the circle. We eventually found that the best way to do this was to draw a complete circle with a compass at home and hold the cut with a hacksaw. I think a router would be a good tool for cutting circles, but we don’t have one, and renting seems like a problem, so we have a jig, so that’s what we used.
First we tried to make a jig for the jig and the jig worked really well in theory. It held the jig well and moved in a complete circle. Unfortunately it didn’t work for us because I think the wood we used was too thick for the saw blade as the blade bent and made angled cuts instead of straight cuts. With the right tools and materials, a wooden bench is easier than you think. If you follow our step-by-step instructions, any beginner do-it-yourselfer can have the job done like a pro in just one weekend.
First you need to draw the legs of the chair. While making the front legs is a simple task, making the back legs is a bit more complicated because they have to be cut from 2×4 strips. For professional results, we recommend the pattern shown in the image.
To cut the legs, start with a strip of 2×4 and cut with a knife. Smooth their edges with a router or sanding block.

Next, continue the woodworking project by assembling the front legs and attaching them to the rear legs. Cut the side skirts from the 1×4 wood and fasten them in place with wood screws and glue.
After you have assembled the two sides of the seat, they need to be connected with the front and back aprons. Apply a generous amount of wood glue to the edges of the components to strengthen the joints.
Adjust the seat size according to your needs, but use the methods described above. Press down on the sides of the seat before pulling the 1 1/4-inch screws through the pilot holes.

Then make the seat of the wooden chair. To do the work professionally, you can use different sizes of timber such as 1×3, 1×4 or even 1×6 timber. Cut the strip to size with a saw and align it properly in place.
Before gluing the wooden chair seat, the corners should be reinforced with 2 x 2 brackets. As you can see in the photo, you need to cut both ends of the bracket at a 45 degree angle with a saw. Put the fasteners in place, drill pilot holes and insert 2-inch wood screws.
If you want to look good, work smart and carefully. Make the seat of the chair out of 1/2-inch plywood, making sure the back corners match the legs. Apply wood glue to the top edges of the apron and attach the plywood piece in place.

Last but not least, you need to take care of the finish. So, fill the holes with a good piece of wood and let it dry for at least a few hours. Then sand the surface with 120 grit sandpaper.
