The first step in woodworking is to build the frame of the hexagonal table. As you can easily see in the plans, we recommend that you build the frame with a 2 × 4 beam. Note the 30 degree truncated bevel.

Place the components on the layout and align everything carefully. Drill pocket holes in the ends of the short pieces and insert 2 1/2″ screws to lock the 72″ support height. Don’t leave a gap between support for professional results.

One of the most difficult steps in the project is attaching the frame to the legs of the picnic table. As you can see in the plans, you should leave about 12 1/4 inches between the table frame and the seat frame. Use a spirit level to check that the supports are properly aligned and locked with 2 1/2-inch galvanized screws. Use at least 2 screws for each joint, screw from both sides.
The final step in gardening is attaching the planks to the seating structure. Cut both ends of the 2×6 wood at 60 degrees (set your saw to 30 degrees) and attach to the brackets with 2 1/2-inch galvanized screws. Adjust the corner slats before locking them in place with screws.
