I bought two of these beautiful pink faux fur coats to recreate the chair and covered (color side down) with excess fabric tied from the front. Once I did that, I created two large groups of fabric on the back (normally from each other) until the fabric fit properly. After that, I set up the meetings. I then smooth the fabric down in front of the seats back and redistribute the excess fabric to the armrests.
Be sure to think about the direction your feathers will go when you do this so you don’t end up “upside down” when you turn it all over!

Once I knew which fabric was the “leftover fabric”, I sewed the pin lines and tried the cover on the seat again to see if there were any pieces that needed a little more for a perfect fit.
Next, I cut the bottom line of the back with scissors, making sure the fabric is about 1 inch longer than the bottom of the back where it meets the seat. I then cut another piece of fabric following the outline of the seat, pin them and repeat the sewing process, testing, adjusting if necessary and cutting more fabric (again, check the direction of the feathers before cutting!).
I also split, sewed, and cut any extra fabric on the front of the chair, so I ended up with a nicer chair when I was done. Turn the case right side out and you’re ready to attach it to your chair!

I made sure to leave an extra 5 inches or so of fabric hanging over the bottom of the box so I could fold it under and shoot the bottom of the seat all the way.
Then if I have an area of the leather cover that doesn’t sit comfortably on the chair or it’s furry, I’ll use a needle and a bent fabric thread to fasten the fabric to the seat material and stay in place (this is easy) . easier to sew on a flat surface with one of these). Once the material is cured, all I have to do is clean the bristles, and I was done!
I’m not going to lie, this was probably one of the worst projects I’ve worked on in a while – there was fake hair everywhere!!
