You only need basic sewing skills to make this simple cover. You could probably do it with fabric glue, but I think it would take longer. Stitching the edges of the fabric on this chair cover requires no skill other than straight stitches. I repurposed an old quilt, but you could also use a pillow set for this simple quilt.

I made a cover for the back and a cover for the seat. You can make each using one of your pillows.
First, measure the length and width of the back of the chair. Slide a cushion over the back of the chair to cover it. Add 1.25 inches to the width of the chair for seam allowance. Add 1.25 inches to the length of the chair for seam allowance.

We will use two existing seams on the pillow, one side and one bottom end. Measure and mark the length of the seat from the bottom of the cushion. Add 1.25 inches for seam allowance.

After cutting the fabric, turn the pillow inside out so the right sides of the fabric are together. Pin the two open sides together and sew a seam along both ends. Keep it 1/2 inch from the edge.

After you have sewn the two seams, turn the cover right side out and place it on the back of the chair.

Cut the width of the pillow. I like to keep a finished edge to use on one side of the cover. The width should be equal to the width of the seat plus 1.25 inches. Turn the fabric right side out so they are facing each other. Sew the other side. Now you have a case of the right width.
Place the cushion on the seat and mark how far the tape should cover the bottom of the chair. Turn the fabric inside out so that right sides are facing each other.
Determine how many ties you want under the chair. I decided to use 3 of them. Pin the ribbon so that the excess on the right side of the fabric is on the inside.

Start by draping the fabric over the seat. Make sure the fabric is stretched enough on both sides to wrap around and hang about an inch below the seat. The remaining two sides will be longer.
Roughly measure and mark the long edge of the fabric and place it evenly over the sheet.
I didn’t want the cover to have a lot of creases so I made a pillow with darts in the corners for a tighter fit. Pull the excess fabric from one corner of the underside (creating a fold) and pin it in place. Repeat for the other three corners.

You will need a long piece of rubber that is 1/4 inch wide. Sew the elastic directly from the roll to the pillow, then cut off the excess. Place the edge of the elastic on the opposite side of the pillow, making sure the edge of the elastic meets the edge of the pillow. Use an elastic stitch to sew the elastic ends in place. Stretch the elastic as much as possible when sewing the pillow. Sew until the ends of the elastics overlap by about 1/2 inch. Cut off the excess elastic.
All seats on this style of chair are slightly different, but you can use this guide for all seats. Pleats/darts can be sewn on each corner for added definition. Not bad for a free chair and an extra yard of fabric, right? And it changes the appearance of the space!
