If a woven chair is stored for a long time, dust and dirt can easily seep into the weave. Give the seat a good fit, going in and under all sides and folds of the seat. You can use the brush attached to your vacuum cleaner to suck up dirt and cobwebs.

Using a manual screwdriver, carefully remove the legs from the chair base. Relax – if you slip the rotating head, you can easily cut the weave! Tighten the screws so you can reattach the legs later.

Spray the chair legs with metallic paint using long clean brushes. Applying two good coats is better than one thick coat, which reduces the chance of paint dripping.

You can refresh the dark color of an old chair by using bright paint. Start by painting the outside of the chair and the inside of the chair base. Coat the top of the chair with a nice coat of spray. Move the chair around and spray the paint from different angles – top to bottom, left to right and back again – to cover the fabric properly.
Make sure the front of the seat is dry before flipping the seat over and paint the back and bottom with a nice coat of spray paint. When the first coat of paint is dry, you can give the entire chair a second coat of paint to intensify the color and cover the fabric parts that look a little off.
