How To Make A Macrame Swing Seat – Most of my projects are inspired by my children and the need to facilitate something that teaches them independence or develops their creativity. This DIY bathroom chair is one of them.
I made this hammock chair for my older son who loves to read and often needs a little comfort from his talkative sister. Our front porch was often a little secluded from the chaos of our family of five and the perfect place to relax (literally) and enjoy a book.

While I made this bath chair for my kids, adults can use it too. I have used products strong enough to hold up to 200 lbs. So it can hold more than two adults, but most hardware stores have accessories that make the handle of this bath chair heavier.

Materials: -1 1/4″ x 3″ oak dowels (oak is a hard wood and is considered stronger than bar to support the weight. Mine was also cut to 3″)
First step: Cut the canvas of two yards into two pieces and smooth them according to the figure with the fabric on the left. Measure and mark about 7 inches from the top right edge.
I sized mine down to about 12″ which was a little too much so I suggest 7″. Using a yard stick or a ruler, draw a line from the top mark to the bottom right corner and cut two pieces. open the toilet

Step 2: Fold your top edge down 1/2 inch and smooth. Then straighten it another 1/2 inch and iron. Pin and sew the bottom of the hem as shown above. Repeat with the lower long edge.
Step 3: Rotate your image 90 degrees to the left so that the longest edge is on the right. You will create pockets to pass through each side of the back.
Each corner is about 1 1/2 inches and the iron is smooth. Then fold the top edge 1/2 inch and smooth.

Step 5: Sew two rows along the bottom folded edge as shown. Turn on the starter and pull back. Repeat with the other side.
Step 6: Mark and drill holes at 2 and 4 inches from the two ends of the dowel. If desired, sand and polish the rough edges. I chose to keep it natural.
Step Seven: Place your toilet on a large sheet of cardboard and paint your design on one side. Let dry, then paint the design on the other side (optional). If you’re using a printed fabric, make sure it’s weighted down or loose to make sure it’s tight.

Step 8: Knot in one end of your 16″ thread so that the tail is about 3″. The end must be melted so that it does not melt. Insert the dowel through the outer hole of your dowel and from the widest corner on one side of the canvas seat to the narrowest corner on top.
Next, tie your first knot for about 3 minutes and tie it to the oak stick. Pass through the 4″ hole in the other edge and measure 3″ from the loose end and tie a loose knot.
3 Before tying with the tail, put it in the pocket of the other canvas and fasten it through the last hole. If both sides are uneven, adjust your joints before tightening.

Step 9: Find the center of the twine at the top of your dowel and tie a knot 8-10 inches above it. Tighten the spring link, then attach it to your quick link and finally hang it on a hook securely attached to a ceiling beam or large tree branch.
Adjust all fasteners to make sure the seat is level. Hang it up before you sit down to make sure everything is secure.
For smaller chairs, a soft round pillow can be added under the chair for extra cushioning. The height can be adjusted depending on the height of the ceiling.

Our hallway ceiling is lower than the inside of our house, so you can add another loop of knotted wire or cut your wire into 2″ x 4″ lengths depending on the height of the ceiling.
I also added a cozy rug (similar here) and some plants in woven pots to give the space a cozy feel. I hope you get as much use out of it as your hammock! – Rachel
P.S. If you like this idea but aren’t confident in your DIY skills, I recommend making one of these – it’s so cute!

Chairs must perform two main functions – support and comfort – and these functions are performed by different designers in different dimensions.
The frame and strap structure of the Macramé Ovis Hanging Chair offers a new approach to these opposing functions. Rigid engineering materials (metal and wood) are paired with soft textile materials (cotton thread) to create a strong structural framework that runs over a smooth woven floor. The result is a balance that feels supportive and comfortable all at once.

Pots, Planters & Planters Tutorial » March 4, 2022 Ice 1 How to make an ice bottle A great macrame project! This time we are making this beautiful macrame hanging chair. We got some of our knots from Angie’s blog post (linked here), but these knots are a traditional macrame technique! Well, let’s get started.
Take your 1/4″ dowel and cut it into 30″ pieces. Cut your 5/8″ dowels into 36″ pieces. You can use a circular saw or hand saw for this.

Next, take your two 1 ¼” dowels and add a strip along the entire length of the dowel. This helps keep all subsequent work in a straight line. Go ahead and mark 2″ and 3″ from each end of each dowel. On the third 1 ¼ inch dowel, mark 3 ½ inches on either side. Once everything is marked, remove the tape and use a 5/8″ drill bit to drill the dowel directly into each of the above marks.
Using table pegs and wood chips to drill the holes helps. Give everything a quick sanding.
Take your two pre-drilled 1 ¼” dowels and place them parallel to each other on a flat surface. Take your two 5/8″ thin dowels and slide them through each of the outer holes of the two thick dowels. Allow the thinner dowel to protrude one inch from the thicker dowels. This creates a large rectangle with thick dowels on the short side and thin dowels on the long side!

To protect where the thinner dowel crosses the thicker dowel, add a 1-inch marker with tape to the thread of the thinner screw. Drill a pilot hole through the thick dowel into the thinner dowel where they meet, staying the same inch on the drill bit. Then add a 1-inch wood screw to the test hole to hold everything in place. Repeat this in all four corners of the frame!
After setting the frame, we go to the macrame! Start by pulling ¼ inch of thread. You can use macrame thread, but we find it
