I was starting to worry more and more about how I would finish the project, but luckily I was able to completely build the project using my father’s tools at home. There is no doubt that the end result would have been better if I had had access to the resources provided by the university. However, I am happy to be able to create and complete projects using my own resources.
For my final project my design process was very linear overall. I didn’t find any problem. When designing and building my final product, there was no need to redo it because my final product turned out as planned. Like most project ventures, I started with inspiration and research. I finally came across the idea of a DIY easel chair that I decided to design myself. After deciding on a project concept, I wanted to come up with an aesthetic that could integrate seamlessly into my ideas. But it also has some effect on my personality. I chose the “camp” or “functional” aesthetic because I love going camping and this felt like a tripod chair. After invention I am satisfied with the end result and completed the project.
After purchasing all the required material for my project. I then began the craft by cutting two 48″ dowels I bought in half. Using your dad’s table saw I was able to clear the center of the dowels and make four equally sized 24″ dowels was. Three of these dowels were used for the legs of my trivet.

Next, I drilled a hole in the center of each dowel so they could be attached using bolts and eyebolts. Overall, I’m very proud of the result. My final product can be made at home. And accomplished all the design goals I set out at the beginning. In addition to being lightweight and durable, it works great as a chair. There is extra work with the use of paracord for the seat, which can be cut if necessary. It went very well with the aesthetic I wanted and got what I had planned. I want to research more perfect knitting techniques in the future. So I can make a better seat and sit more comfortably. I might consider the ideas shared by other students for using a second paracord and weaving it perpendicular to the existing weave. Another minor change I would make would be to use a shorter eyebolt as the existing one is too long and juts out from the base to provide more stability during use. I am very happy with my current position. And I’ll be using it on future camping trips or other outdoor activities whenever I figure it out. I googled a lot about the packaging and the kit.
