So I went to Lowe’s and got these little leg extensions for two dollars each. Then I drill holes in the bottom of each leg and screw on the leg extension (comes with the leg wheels). It was a simple project that didn’t take a lot of time and money, but it paid off well in terms of overall appearance.

I go in all directions to cover the pieces with paint as quickly as possible. I’m sure it will take twice to paint in the same direction or sand the uneven parts. I start somewhere (usually in the corner) and work my way up, not focusing on intentional brush strokes. I use the “swing” method when I go to small areas or holes and wood, and I don’t bother adjusting the brush marks that make the turn.

I like that I can paint a table or a cabinet top like this, and then before I remove the wax, I usually give it a light sanding to smooth out the burrs and lighten the texture a bit. It looks very smooth, but wax, especially black wax, still produces a subtle texture that makes it more interesting and unique than the completely flat and smooth finish obtained with latex.

How did I get the roses in the box? 🙂 I took the same photos with both to see which one looked better and most of them didn’t match the focus and lighting of the roses at all. This rose stole my eye more than the Union Jack! 🙂
It’s hard to tell in this picture, but I glued two layers on top of it. Rose at Wood Icing showed me how to apply and wax it and it seemed to add some strength, especially on the tops of tables and cabinets, so I gave it a go! It has a matte finish all over the body, but the top is super shiny…which I love!
End Table Dimensions: What Size Should My End Table Be?
If you’re local, head over to Wood’s Icing in Chesterfield Mall and you’ll see this adorable table! I have a small table that I bought about 5 years ago for $25.00. It was in the living room until the recent renovation when I moved it to the kitchen/diner. Although small, it fits my small family (single mom of two teenagers) very well. And because of the size, my kitchen is very big. The only problem was that the seats I had were too short/low to the floor.
Most tables are about 30 inches tall, mine was 28. I couldn’t sit comfortably in my dining room chairs and judged tall guests. So I decided to step it up. It only took 10 minutes to develop, including painting and drying time. Between painting and drying, this table took about 45 minutes to set up and complete.
I purchased 5/16″-18 x 3/8″ T-nuts (found here ) to attach the rabbit legs (see image below).

Then I overturned the table. Fortunately, the centers of the table legs are already marked. If yours isn’t, mark the center by measuring the diameter of the leg and marking the center. Cross it over each other 2 or 3 times to find the center.
I then drilled a 1/3″ deep hole with a 5/16″ drill bit. Note: If you don’t have a 5/16″ drill bit, I recommend purchasing a drill bit ( similar to this one ). It was only a few dollars more than buying individual bits. Now I have 10+ more bits. future projects – This.
If you notice the side slits on this leg (picture below), please note that I did not tape them. They were there – who knows. Remember, the table is still working fine and they didn’t interfere with this project.

Make sure I haven’t tipped the table over before I draw – I didn’t. It was very powerful and still is (I’m writing 3 weeks after the project).
Then I drew out all the legs and added some color to each one. One Sherwin Williams leg was removed and matched to match the color. I bought the small size (sample size) for a few bucks.
Tip- Use masking tape and cups etc. to dry feet. I think it is useful to use.
