We built it in three weeks (although anyone can build it in half that time) with the following resources:
You can build a couch from scratch, but it saves time by starting with a chair to build. I found a plastic Adirondack chair that was great, inexpensive (under $15), and easy to get started with. This is similar to the back and is a good base for building a high arm.

So I cut a bunch of foam from the work area – 1/8″ or so thick – about 1″ to 1.5″ wide. I started with simple square strips, but cut them a point further. Since the sides and front of the chair are full, I just need to finish some layers on the seat and back of the chair, most importantly adding the row of teeth to the top to complete the popular look. First, make sure the foam is completely insulated, then the entire seat will be painted and painted. First, a very dark gray coat was used.
