This is my first instructable and here I share how to make a small table mat measuring 12 inches by 12 inches from acrylic nylon handwoven yarn. You can use this table mat to keep mobile phone, FM radio, bluetooth speaker and all your small things.

I used a homemade loom for this project. My husband made this salt for me. It is square in shape with interior dimensions of 12″ x 12″. The frame is made of 3/4 inch thick plywood with a one inch width all around. Frame nails are 1/2″ apart on three centers
Two different matching colors of acrylic nylon knitting yarn are required. I used sea green and light biscuit colors. Yarn packets are 100 grams each. This project requires 25 to 30 grams of each color.
Continue wrapping three rows in the middle and three rows at the other end as shown with the same color. There is no need to cut the thread but it can be taken along the outer edge of the nail

Now we crochet around the edges using both colors of yarn. Here I used 6mm crochet needle for this
We will attach the second layer around the edge which will help us lock it in place. Start at one end as before and complete around. Tie the thread at the end and cut it

Don’t pull your thread too tight, as it can slip – the beads need some space to fit properly. When you run out of thread, tie a new thread using a barrel knot. If the thread is tight and you can’t tie a knot through the bead, tie a new thread by crossing several beads from the previous row instead. Make a good knot and pull it tight so it doesn’t fall off while sewing. I’m using One-G thread in this tutorial, but you can use anything else – just make sure you choose a thread that’s strong and soft. I use 11/0 TOHO beads, but you can use any small, round bead.
String 8 white (opaque white) beads, attach the thread to form a circle and pass the needle through 2 beads.
You should have a small square. Always have a suitable arrangement around your entire work to finish at the beginning of the current row. Pass the thread through the center bead of the current row. You usually start a new row with the middle bead.

You can now see an octagonal, star-like shape. From today, we will repeat the same step – we will add 5 beads in every third row that will extend the ends of the wire. However, we always add 3 beads across the entire width of the table mat going through each center bead of the previous row.
