After it dried, I sanded it down and painted it with Paris Gray water, Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. (Also, I just mix them together, maybe 2 tablespoons paint to 1/4 cup water.)

I thought the look was very classy. I was disappointed. 🙂 You can see that the wood here is a bit gray. After adding the top layer, it will be warmer. If you want gray, consider a second wash.

While I was doing all this, my husband was working on building a floor plan. It must be said that although he is a handsome and prosperous man, he is not a carpenter. He knew I didn’t expect everything to be perfect. Just do it. And there it is.

We copied the base of the table apron where the legs were originally attached and adjusted the measurements for the new table size we were building, a 3′ by 4′ coffee table.
